An ancient hermit. Once the great hermit आर्ष्टिषेण came to the hermitage of रुषङ्गु and did severe penance. विश्वामित्र obtained ब्राह्मणत्व (Brahminhood) by doing penance in this place. Towards the end of his life रुषङ्गु and his sons came to पृथूदकतीर्थ and sang laudatory songs about पृथूदकतीर्थ . रुषङ्गु said that those who did penance and died in this holy bath would not have to undergo miseries after death.
