भरद्वाज once forbade his son यवक्रीत from going to the hermitage of रैभ्य . Getting angry at this, रैभ्य struck his matted hair on the ground and created a wicked fairy and ordered her to kill यवक्रीत . Knowing this भरद्वाज ran to that place and cursed रैभ्य that his eldest son would kill him.

One of the sons of ब्रह्मा . Once रैभ्य went with वसु and अङ्गिरस् to बृहस्पति and asked him several questions, about the attainment of Supernal bliss. बृहस्पति replied that attainment of heaven could be had, not by action but only by devotion. रैभ्य immediately started to गया to do penance. There he met with the सनत्कुमारस् . (Varāha Purāṇa)
उर्वशी made an earnest effort to hinder the severe vow and penance of रैभ्य . But it was of no use, and by his curse, that celestial woman became ugly. She entreated him for liberation from the curse. Raibhya blessed her and said that she could obtain her original form by bathing in योधिनीकुण्ड . (Yoginī Kuṇḍa) . Urvaśī bathed in योधिनीकुण्ड and from that day onwards that तीर्थ (holy bath) came to be known as उर्वशीयोगिनीकुण्ड .
