The son born to the celebrated king, मान्धाता of his wife बिन्दुमती . (See under Māndhātā for Genealogy) . पुरुकुत्स had a brother named मुचुकुन्द . Descending in order from पुरुकुत्स were अरण्य -- बृहदश्व -- हर्यश्व -- त्रिधन्वा -- अरुण -- सत्यव्रत -- त्रिशङ्कु .

One पुरुकुत्स is praised in the ऋग्वेद . It is not known whether both are one and the same person. पुरुकुत्स with his wife नर्मदादेवी went to the forest of कुरुक्षेत्र and doing penance there attained मोक्ष . [mh-15-20-1 ] Mahābhārata • Āśramavāsika parva .
