पुरन्दर

इन्द्र .
तप , son of the agni called पाञ्चजन्य . इन्द्र once became the son of this पुरन्दर . [mh-3-221-3 ] .
The name of इन्द्र in वैवस्वत मन्वन्तर . (See under Manvantara) . In मत्स्य पुराण पुरन्दर has been considered to be one among the eighteen वास्तुशास्त्रकारस् (adepts in house building). The other seventeen are: भृगु , अत्रि , वसिष्ठ , विश्वकर्मा , मय , नारद , नग्नजित् , विशालाक्ष , ब्रह्मा , कुमार , नन्दीश , शौनक , गर्ग , वाशुदेव , शुक्र , बृहस्पति and अनिरुद्ध . (Matsya Purāṇa, Chapter 252, verses 2 and 3) .
According to महाभारत Lord शिव wrote a book " वैशालाक्ष " containing ten thousand chapters dealing with धर्मार्थकामस् . पुरन्दर condensed it into a book of five thousand chapters called 'Bāhudantaka.' पुरन्दर gave that book that name in honour of his mother who was called बाहुदन्ती .
