पुण्यशील
[punyasila] IAST: PUṆYAŚĪLA
A ब्रह्मिन् who was residing on the banks of the river गोदावरी . Once पुण्यशील engaged a ब्रह्मिन् widower for officiating in a श्राद्ध ceremony. As a result of that sin पुण्यशील 's face became that of a donkey. To be freed from the sin he went and bathed in the स्वामितीर्थ and आकाशगङ्गातीर्थ of वेङ्कटाचल . His sin was washed away and his face regained its original form. (Chapter 2, Skanda Purāṇa)
