ऋग्वेद 8.86 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

उभा हि दस्रा भिषजा मयोभुवोभा दक्षस्य वचसो बभूवथुः । ता वां विश्वको हवते तनूकृथे मा नो वि यौष्टं सख्या मुमोचतम् ॥

ubhā hi dasrā bhiṣajā mayobhuvobhā dakṣasya vacaso babhūvathuḥ | tā vāṃ viśvako havate tanūkṛthe mā no vi yauṣṭaṃ sakhyā mumocatam ||

Dasras, physicians, sources of happiness, you both were (the objects) of Dakṣa's praise; Viśvaka nowinvokes you for the sake of his son; sever not our friendships, but fling loose (your reins and gallop here).

कथा नूनं वां विमना उप स्तवद्युवं धियं ददथुर्वस्यैष्टये । ता वां विश्वको हवते तनूकृथे मा नो वि यौष्टं सख्या मुमोचतम् ॥

kathā nūnaṃ vāṃ vimanā upa stavadyuvaṃ dhiyaṃ dadathurvasyaiṣṭaye | tā vāṃ viśvako havate tanūkṛthe mā no vi yauṣṭaṃ sakhyā mumocatam ||

How Vimanas once praised you, and you gave him understanding for the attainment of excellent wealth!Viśvaka now invokes you for the sake of his son; sever not our friendships, but fling loose (your reins and gallophere).

युवं हि ष्मा पुरुभुजेममेधतुं विष्णाप्वे ददथुर्वस्यैष्टये । ता वां विश्वको हवते तनूकृथे मा नो वि यौष्टं सख्या मुमोचतम् ॥

yuvaṃ hi ṣmā purubhujemamedhatuṃ viṣṇāpve dadathurvasyaiṣṭaye | tā vāṃ viśvako havate tanūkṛthe mā no vi yauṣṭaṃ sakhyā mumocatam ||

Gladdeners of many, you have given to Viśṇāpu this prosperity for the attainment of excellent wealth!Viśvaka now invokes you for the sake of his son; sever not our friendships, but fling loose (your reins and gallophere).

उत त्यं वीरं धनसामृजीषिणं दूरे चित्सन्तमवसे हवामहे । यस्य स्वादिष्ठा सुमतिः पितुर्यथा मा नो वि यौष्टं सख्या मुमोचतम् ॥

uta tyaṃ vīraṃ dhanasāmṛjīṣiṇaṃ dūre citsantamavase havāmahe | yasya svādiṣṭhā sumatiḥ pituryathā mā no vi yauṣṭaṃ sakhyā mumocatam ||

We summon that hero to our protection, (the enjoyer) of wealth, the possessor of the Soma, who nowdwells afar off and whose hymn is most plural asing (to the gods) like his father's, sever not our friendships, but flingloose (your reins and gallop here).

ऋतेन देवः सविता शमायत ऋतस्य शृङ्गमुर्विया वि पप्रथे । ऋतं सासाह महि चित्पृतन्यतो मा नो वि यौष्टं सख्या मुमोचतम् ॥

ṛtena devaḥ savitā śamāyata ṛtasya śṛṅgamurviyā vi paprathe | ṛtaṃ sāsāha mahi citpṛtanyato mā no vi yauṣṭaṃ sakhyā mumocatam ||

The sun-god by truth extinguishes his beams (in the evening); he spreads abroad (in the morning) thehorn of truth; truth verily overcomes the might of the eager assailant; therefore sever not our friendships, but flingloose (your reins and gallop here).
