[rv-6-68] • 11 श्लोकाः

श्रुष्टी वां यज्ञ उद्यतः सजोषा मनुष्वद्वृक्तबर्हिषो यजध्यै । आ य इन्द्रावरुणाविषे अद्य महे सुम्नाय मह आववर्तत् ॥

śruṣṭī vāṃ yajña udyataḥ sajoṣā manuṣvadvṛktabarhiṣo yajadhyai | ā ya indrāvaruṇāviṣe adya mahe sumnāya maha āvavartat ||

Mighty Indra and Varuṇa, promptly has the Soma returned, engaged conscientiously (with the priests) to offer sacrifice to you to obtain food for him by whom, like Manu, the sacred grass has been clipped; he who (invited you hither) today for exceeding happiness.

ता हि श्रेष्ठा देवताता तुजा शूराणां शविष्ठा ता हि भूतम् । मघोनां मंहिष्ठा तुविशुष्म ऋतेन वृत्रतुरा सर्वसेना ॥

tā hi śreṣṭhā devatātā tujā śūrāṇāṃ śaviṣṭhā tā hi bhūtam | maghonāṃ maṃhiṣṭhā tuviśuṣma ṛtena vṛtraturā sarvasenā ||

You two are the principal (divinities) at the worship of the gods; the distributors of wealth; the most vigorous of heroes; the most liberal among the opulent; possessed of vast strength; destroyers of foes by truth; entire hosts (of yourselves).

ता गृणीहि नमस्येभिः शूषैः सुम्नेभिरिन्द्रावरुणा चकाना । वज्रेणान्यः शवसा हन्ति वृत्रं सिषक्त्यन्यो वृजनेषु विप्रः ॥

tā gṛṇīhi namasyebhiḥ śūṣaiḥ sumnebhirindrāvaruṇā cakānā | vajreṇānyaḥ śavasā hanti vṛtraṃ siṣaktyanyo vṛjaneṣu vipraḥ ||

Praise Mitra and Varuṇa, renowned or all glorious energies and enjoyment; one of whom slays Vṛtra with the thunderbolt, the other, intelligent by his might, comes to the aid (of the pious when) in difficulties.

ग्नाश्च यन्नरश्च वावृधन्त विश्वे देवासो नरां स्वगूर्ताः । प्रैभ्य इन्द्रावरुणा महित्वा द्यौश्च पृथिवि भूतमुर्वी ॥

gnāśca yannaraśca vāvṛdhanta viśve devāso narāṃ svagūrtāḥ | praibhya indrāvaruṇā mahitvā dyauśca pṛthivi bhūtamurvī ||

When among mankind, both males and feminine les, and when all the gods spontaneously striving glorify you, Indra and Varuṇa, you become pre-eminent in greatness over them, as do you, wide heaven and earth (surpass them also).

स इत्सुदानुः स्ववाँ ऋतावेन्द्रा यो वां वरुण दाशति त्मन् । इषा स द्विषस्तरेद्दास्वान्वंसद्रयिं रयिवतश्च जनान् ॥

sa itsudānuḥ svavā~ ṛtāvendrā yo vāṃ varuṇa dāśati tman | iṣā sa dviṣastareddāsvānvaṃsadrayiṃ rayivataśca janān ||

He who spontaneously presents you, Indra and Varuṇa (oblations), is liberal, wealthy and upright; he has to prosper with the food of his adversary, and possess riches, and opulent descendants.

यं युवं दाश्वध्वराय देवा रयिं धत्थो वसुमन्तं पुरुक्षुम् । अस्मे स इन्द्रावरुणावपि ष्यात्प्र यो भनक्ति वनुषामशस्तीः ॥

yaṃ yuvaṃ dāśvadhvarāya devā rayiṃ dhattho vasumantaṃ purukṣum | asme sa indrāvaruṇāvapi ṣyātpra yo bhanakti vanuṣāmaśastīḥ ||

May that opulence comprising treasure and abundant food, which you besow, deities, upon the donor (of the oblation), that, Indra and Varuṇa, which baffles the calumnies of the malevolent, be ours.

उत नः सुत्रात्रो देवगोपाः सूरिभ्य इन्द्रावरुणा रयिः ष्यात् । येषां शुष्मः पृतनासु साह्वान्प्र सद्यो द्युम्ना तिरते ततुरिः ॥

uta naḥ sutrātro devagopāḥ sūribhya indrāvaruṇā rayiḥ ṣyāt | yeṣāṃ śuṣmaḥ pṛtanāsu sāhvānpra sadyo dyumnā tirate taturiḥ ||

May that opulence, Indra and Varuṇa, which is a sure defence, and of which the gods are the guardians, be ours, celebrating our praise, whose destroying prowess in battles victorious (over foes) speedily obscures (their) fame.

नू न इन्द्रावरुणा गृणाना पृङ्क्तं रयिं सौश्रवसाय देवा । इत्था गृणन्तो महिनस्य शर्धोऽपो न नावा दुरिता तरेम ॥

nū na indrāvaruṇā gṛṇānā pṛṅktaṃ rayiṃ sauśravasāya devā | itthā gṛṇanto mahinasya śardho'po na nāvā duritā tarema ||

Divine and glorified Indra and Varuṇa, quickly bestow upon us wealth for our felicity; and thus eulogising he strength of you two, mighty (deities), may we pass over all difficulties as (we cross) the waters with a boat.

प्र सम्राजे बृहते मन्म नु प्रियमर्च देवाय वरुणाय सप्रथः । अयं य उर्वी महिना महिव्रतः क्रत्वा विभात्यजरो न शोचिषा ॥

pra samrāje bṛhate manma nu priyamarca devāya varuṇāya saprathaḥ | ayaṃ ya urvī mahinā mahivrataḥ kratvā vibhātyajaro na śociṣā ||

Repeat acceptable and all-comprehensive praise to the imperial mighty divine Varuṇa, he who, endowed with greatness, with wisdom, and with splendour, illumines the spacious (heaven and earth).

इन्द्रावरुणा सुतपाविमं सुतं सोमं पिबतं मद्यं धृतव्रता । युवो रथो अध्वरं देववीतये प्रति स्वसरमुप याति पीतये ॥

indrāvaruṇā sutapāvimaṃ sutaṃ somaṃ pibataṃ madyaṃ dhṛtavratā | yuvo ratho adhvaraṃ devavītaye prati svasaramupa yāti pītaye ||

Indra and Varuṇa, observant of holy duties, drinkers of the Soma, drink this exhilarating effused libation; your chariot approaches along the road to the sacrifice, (that you may partake) of the food of the gods and drink (the Soma).

इन्द्रावरुणा मधुमत्तमस्य वृष्णः सोमस्य वृषणा वृषेथाम् । इदं वामन्धः परिषिक्तमस्मे आसद्यास्मिन्बर्हिषि मादयेथाम् ॥

indrāvaruṇā madhumattamasya vṛṣṇaḥ somasya vṛṣaṇā vṛṣethām | idaṃ vāmandhaḥ pariṣiktamasme āsadyāsminbarhiṣi mādayethām ||

Drink, Indra and Varuṇa, showerers (of benefits), of the most sweet Soma, the shedder (of blessings); this your Soma, is poured forth by us; sitting on the sacred grass, be exhilarated (by the draught).
