[rv-6-66] • 11 श्लोकाः

वपुर्नु तच्चिकितुषे चिदस्तु समानं नाम धेनु पत्यमानम् । मर्तेष्वन्यद्दोहसे पीपाय सकृच्छुक्रं दुदुहे पृश्निरूधः ॥

vapurnu taccikituṣe cidastu samānaṃ nāma dhenu patyamānam | marteṣvanyaddohase pīpāya sakṛcchukraṃ duduhe pṛśnirūdhaḥ ||

May the like-formed, benevolent, all-pervading, all humiliating troop (of the Maruts) be promptly with the prudent man; the troop that ever cherishes all that among mortals is designed to yield (them) advantage; and (at whose wil) Pṛśni gives milk from (her) bright udder once (in the year).

ये अग्नयो न शोशुचन्निधाना द्विर्यत्त्रिर्मरुतो वावृधन्त । अरेणवो हिरण्ययास एषां साकं नृम्णैः पौंस्येभिश्च भूवन् ॥

ye agnayo na śośucannidhānā dviryattrirmaruto vāvṛdhanta | areṇavo hiraṇyayāsa eṣāṃ sākaṃ nṛmṇaiḥ pauṃsyebhiśca bhūvan ||

Unsoiled by dust the golden chariots of those Maruts, who are shining like kindled fires, enlarging themselves (at will) twofold and threefold, and (charged) with riches and virile energies, are manifest.

रुद्रस्य ये मीऴ्हुषः सन्ति पुत्रा याँश्चो नु दाधृविर्भरध्यै । विदे हि माता महो मही षा सेत्पृश्निः सुभ्वे गर्भमाधात् ॥

rudrasya ye mīḻhuṣaḥ santi putrā yā~śco nu dādhṛvirbharadhyai | vide hi mātā maho mahī ṣā setpṛśniḥ subhve garbhamādhāt ||

They (who are) the sons of the showerer Rudra, whom the nursing (firmamen is able) to sustain, and of whom, the mighty ones, it is known that the great Pṛśni has received the germ for the benefit (of man).

न य ईषन्ते जनुषोऽया न्वन्तः सन्तोऽवद्यानि पुनानाः । निर्यद्दुह्रे शुचयोऽनु जोषमनु श्रिया तन्वमुक्षमाणाः ॥

na ya īṣante januṣo'yā nvantaḥ santo'vadyāni punānāḥ | niryadduhre śucayo'nu joṣamanu śriyā tanvamukṣamāṇāḥ ||

They who approach not to men any conveyance, being already in their hearts, purifying their defects; when brilliant they supply their milk (the rain) for the gratification (of their worshippers); they are watering the earth (manifesting their collective); from with splendour.

मक्षू न येषु दोहसे चिदया आ नाम धृष्णु मारुतं दधानाः । न ये स्तौना अयासो मह्ना नू चित्सुदानुरव यासदुग्रान् ॥

makṣū na yeṣu dohase cidayā ā nāma dhṛṣṇu mārutaṃ dadhānāḥ | na ye staunā ayāso mahnā nū citsudānurava yāsadugrān ||

Approaching nigh to whom, and repeating the mighty name of the Maruts, (the worshipper is able) quickly to obtain (his wishes); the liberal donor pacifies the angry Maruts, who are otherwise in their might the resistless plural nderers (of their wealth).

त इदुग्राः शवसा धृष्णुषेणा उभे युजन्त रोदसी सुमेके । अध स्मैषु रोदसी स्वशोचिरामवत्सु तस्थौ न रोकः ॥

ta idugrāḥ śavasā dhṛṣṇuṣeṇā ubhe yujanta rodasī sumeke | adha smaiṣu rodasī svaśocirāmavatsu tasthau na rokaḥ ||

THose fierce and powerfully arrayed (Maruts) unite by their strength the two beautiful (regions) heaven and earth; in them, the self-radiant, heaven and earth abide; the obstruction (of light) dwells not in those mighty ones.

अनेनो वो मरुतो यामो अस्त्वनश्वश्चिद्यमजत्यरथीः । अनवसो अनभीशू रजस्तूर्वि रोदसी पथ्या याति साधन् ॥

aneno vo maruto yāmo astvanaśvaścidyamajatyarathīḥ | anavaso anabhīśū rajastūrvi rodasī pathyā yāti sādhan ||

May your chariot, Maruts, be devoid of wickedness; that which (the worshipper) impels, and which without driver, without horses, without provender, without traces, scattering water and accomplishing (desires), traverses heaven and earth and the paths (of the firmament).

नास्य वर्ता न तरुता न्वस्ति मरुतो यमवथ वाजसातौ । तोके वा गोषु तनये यमप्सु स व्रजं दर्ता पार्ये अध द्योः ॥

nāsya vartā na tarutā nvasti maruto yamavatha vājasātau | toke vā goṣu tanaye yamapsu sa vrajaṃ dartā pārye adha dyoḥ ||

There is no propeller, no obstructer, of him, whom, Maruts, you protect in battle; he whom (you prosper) with sons, grandsons, cattle, and water, is in war the despoiler of the herds of his ardent (foes).

प्र चित्रमर्कं गृणते तुराय मारुताय स्वतवसे भरध्वम् । ये सहांसि सहसा सहन्ते रेजते अग्ने पृथिवी मखेभ्यः ॥

pra citramarkaṃ gṛṇate turāya mārutāya svatavase bharadhvam | ye sahāṃsi sahasā sahante rejate agne pṛthivī makhebhyaḥ ||

Offer to the loud-sounding, quick-moving, self-invigorating company of the Maruts, excellent (sacrificial) food; (to them) who overcome strength by strength; the earth trembles, Agni, at the adorable (Maruts).

त्विषीमन्तो अध्वरस्येव दिद्युत्तृषुच्यवसो जुह्वो नाग्नेः । अर्चत्रयो धुनयो न वीरा भ्राजज्जन्मानो मरुतो अधृष्टाः ॥

tviṣīmanto adhvarasyeva didyuttṛṣucyavaso juhvo nāgneḥ | arcatrayo dhunayo na vīrā bhrājajjanmāno maruto adhṛṣṭāḥ ||

The Maruts are resplendent as if iluminators of the sacrifice, (bright) as he flames of Agni; entitled are they to donation, and like heroes making (adversaries) tremble; brilliant are they from birth, and invincible.

तं वृधन्तं मारुतं भ्राजदृष्टिं रुद्रस्य सूनुं हवसा विवासे । दिवः शर्धाय शुचयो मनीषा गिरयो नाप उग्रा अस्पृध्रन् ॥

taṃ vṛdhantaṃ mārutaṃ bhrājadṛṣṭiṃ rudrasya sūnuṃ havasā vivāse | divaḥ śardhāya śucayo manīṣā girayo nāpa ugrā aspṛdhran ||

I worship with oblations that exalted company of the Maruts, the progeny of Rudra, armed with shining lances; the pure and earnest praises of the devout (adorer) are emulous in the invigoration (of the Maruts), as the clouds (vie in the emission of the rain).
