[rv-6-64] • 6 श्लोकाः

उदु श्रिय उषसो रोचमाना अस्थुरपां नोर्मयो रुशन्तः । कृणोति विश्वा सुपथा सुगान्यभूदु वस्वी दक्षिणा मघोनी ॥

udu śriya uṣaso rocamānā asthurapāṃ normayo ruśantaḥ | kṛṇoti viśvā supathā sugānyabhūdu vasvī dakṣiṇā maghonī ||

The white and shining tints of the dawn have spread like the waves of the waters, for the beautifying (of the world); she renders all good roads easy to be traversed; she ho is replete with delight, excellence and health.

भद्रा ददृक्ष उर्विया वि भास्युत्ते शोचिर्भानवो द्यामपप्तन् । आविर्वक्षः कृणुषे शुम्भमानोषो देवि रोचमाना महोभिः ॥

bhadrā dadṛkṣa urviyā vi bhāsyutte śocirbhānavo dyāmapaptan | āvirvakṣaḥ kṛṇuṣe śumbhamānoṣo devi rocamānā mahobhiḥ ||

Divine Uṣas, you are seen auspicious; you shine afar; your bright rays spread over the sky, lovely and radiant with great (splndours), you display your person n.

वहन्ति सीमरुणासो रुशन्तो गावः सुभगामुर्विया प्रथानाम् । अपेजते शूरो अस्तेव शत्रून्बाधते तमो अजिरो न वोऴ्हा ॥

vahanti sīmaruṇāso ruśanto gāvaḥ subhagāmurviyā prathānām | apejate śūro asteva śatrūnbādhate tamo ajiro na voḻhā ||

Ruddy and resplendent kine bear the auspicious, expanding, illustrious dawn; like a warrior, who, casting his darts, or a swift charger scattering enemies, she drives away the glooms.

सुगोत ते सुपथा पर्वतेष्ववाते अपस्तरसि स्वभानो । सा न आ वह पृथुयामन्नृष्वे रयिं दिवो दुहितरिषयध्यै ॥

sugota te supathā parvateṣvavāte apastarasi svabhāno | sā na ā vaha pṛthuyāmannṛṣve rayiṃ divo duhitariṣayadhyai ||

Yours are good roads and easy to be traversed in mountains and inaccessible plural ces; you pass self-irradiating over the waters; bring to us, daughter of heaven, in your spacious and beautiful chariot, desirable riches.

सा वह योक्षभिरवातोषो वरं वहसि जोषमनु । त्वं दिवो दुहितर्या ह देवी पूर्वहूतौ मंहना दर्शता भूः ॥

sā vaha yokṣabhiravātoṣo varaṃ vahasi joṣamanu | tvaṃ divo duhitaryā ha devī pūrvahūtau maṃhanā darśatā bhūḥ ||

Do you Uṣas bring me opulence, for unoposed you bear with your oxen (wealth to your worshippers), according to your satisfaction; daughter of heaven, you who are divine, who are lovely, are to be worshipped at the first (daily) rite.

उत्ते वयश्चिद्वसतेरपप्तन्नरश्च ये पितुभाजो व्युष्टौ । अमा सते वहसि भूरि वाममुषो देवि दाशुषे मर्त्याय ॥

utte vayaścidvasaterapaptannaraśca ye pitubhājo vyuṣṭau | amā sate vahasi bhūri vāmamuṣo devi dāśuṣe martyāya ||

At your dawning, divine Uṣas, the birds spring up from their nests, and men who have to gain their sustenance (arise); you, divine Uṣas, bring ample wealth to the mortal who is nigh you, the offerer of the oblation.
