[rv-4-53] • 7 श्लोकाः

तद्देवस्य सवितुर्वार्यं महद्वृणीमहे असुरस्य प्रचेतसः । छर्दिर्येन दाशुषे यच्छति त्मना तन्नो महाँ उदयान्देवो अक्तुभिः ॥

taddevasya saviturvāryaṃ mahadvṛṇīmahe asurasya pracetasaḥ | chardiryena dāśuṣe yacchati tmanā tanno mahā~ udayāndevo aktubhiḥ ||

We solicit of the divine, powerful, and intelligen Savitā that desirable and ample (wealth), along with which he grants a dwelling to the offerer of the oblation of his own accord; may the great deity grant us such every day.

दिवो धर्ता भुवनस्य प्रजापतिः पिशङ्गं द्रापिं प्रति मुञ्चते कविः । विचक्षणः प्रथयन्नापृणन्नुर्वजीजनत्सविता सुम्नमुक्थ्यम् ॥

divo dhartā bhuvanasya prajāpatiḥ piśaṅgaṃ drāpiṃ prati muñcate kaviḥ | vicakṣaṇaḥ prathayannāpṛṇannurvajījanatsavitā sumnamukthyam ||

The supporter of heaven, the protector of the world, the wise (Savitā) puts on his golden armour discrimiator (of objects), filling (the world with light) Savitā has engendered great and laudable felicity.

आप्रा रजांसि दिव्यानि पार्थिवा श्लोकं देवः कृणुते स्वाय धर्मणे । प्र बाहू अस्राक्सविता सवीमनि निवेशयन्प्रसुवन्नक्तुभिर्जगत् ॥

āprā rajāṃsi divyāni pārthivā ślokaṃ devaḥ kṛṇute svāya dharmaṇe | pra bāhū asrāksavitā savīmani niveśayanprasuvannaktubhirjagat ||

The divine (Savitā) fills (with radiance) the celestial and terrestrial regions, and boasts of his own function; Savitā puts forth his arms or (the work of) production, regulating the world, and animating it with light.

अदाभ्यो भुवनानि प्रचाकशद्व्रतानि देवः सविताभि रक्षते । प्रास्राग्बाहू भुवनस्य प्रजाभ्यो धृतव्रतो महो अज्मस्य राजति ॥

adābhyo bhuvanāni pracākaśadvratāni devaḥ savitābhi rakṣate | prāsrāgbāhū bhuvanasya prajābhyo dhṛtavrato maho ajmasya rājati ||

The divine Savitā unrestrained, illumining the regions, protects the righteous acts (of men); he extends his arms for (the direction of) the people of the earth; observant of obligations, he rules over the wide world.

त्रिरन्तरिक्षं सविता महित्वना त्री रजांसि परिभुस्त्रीणि रोचना । तिस्रो दिवः पृथिवीस्तिस्र इन्वति त्रिभिर्व्रतैरभि नो रक्षति त्मना ॥

trirantarikṣaṃ savitā mahitvanā trī rajāṃsi paribhustrīṇi rocanā | tisro divaḥ pṛthivīstisra invati tribhirvratairabhi no rakṣati tmanā ||

Savitā, encompassing them by his magnitude, pervades th three (divisions of the) firmament, the three worlds, the three brilliant sphere, the three heavens, the threefold earth may he, by his three functions, of his own (plural asure) protect us.

बृहत्सुम्नः प्रसवीता निवेशनो जगतः स्थातुरुभयस्य यो वशी । स नो देवः सविता शर्म यच्छत्वस्मे क्षयाय त्रिवरूथमंहसः ॥

bṛhatsumnaḥ prasavītā niveśano jagataḥ sthāturubhayasya yo vaśī | sa no devaḥ savitā śarma yacchatvasme kṣayāya trivarūthamaṃhasaḥ ||

May that divine Savitā, who is the source of great happiness, the engenderer (of good works), the comprehender (of all beings), the regulator of both the moveable and the stationary, grant us happiness in the three worlds, and (be) to us for the destruction of sin.

आगन्देव ऋतुभिर्वर्धतु क्षयं दधातु नः सविता सुप्रजामिषम् । स नः क्षपाभिरहभिश्च जिन्वतु प्रजावन्तं रयिमस्मे समिन्वतु ॥

āgandeva ṛtubhirvardhatu kṣayaṃ dadhātu naḥ savitā suprajāmiṣam | sa naḥ kṣapābhirahabhiśca jinvatu prajāvantaṃ rayimasme saminvatu ||

May the divine Savitā approach along with the Ṛtus, prosper our dwelling, and bestow upon us good progeny and food; may he be favourable to us by night and by day; may he heap upon us wealth comprehending offspring.
