ऋग्वेद 4.14 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

प्रत्यग्निरुषसो जातवेदा अख्यद्देवो रोचमाना महोभिः । आ नासत्योरुगाया रथेनेमं यज्ञमुप नो यातमच्छ ॥

pratyagniruṣaso jātavedā akhyaddevo rocamānā mahobhiḥ | ā nāsatyorugāyā rathenemaṃ yajñamupa no yātamaccha ||

The resplendent Agni, by whom all is known, has manifested (his might) in regard to the dawns radiant with lustre; far-going Nāsatyas, come with your car to this our sacrifice.

ऊर्ध्वं केतुं सविता देवो अश्रेज्ज्योतिर्विश्वस्मै भुवनाय कृण्वन् । आप्रा द्यावापृथिवी अन्तरिक्षं वि सूर्यो रश्मिभिश्चेकितानः ॥

ūrdhvaṃ ketuṃ savitā devo aśrejjyotirviśvasmai bhuvanāya kṛṇvan | āprā dyāvāpṛthivī antarikṣaṃ vi sūryo raśmibhiścekitānaḥ ||

The divine Savitā displays his banner on high, diffusing light through all worlds; contemplating (all things), the sun has filled heaven and earth and the firmament with his rays.

आवहन्त्यरुणीर्ज्योतिषागान्मही चित्रा रश्मिभिश्चेकिताना । प्रबोधयन्ती सुविताय देव्युषा ईयते सुयुजा रथेन ॥

āvahantyaruṇīrjyotiṣāgānmahī citrā raśmibhiścekitānā | prabodhayantī suvitāya devyuṣā īyate suyujā rathena ||

The great and intelligent dawn, variegated with (many-coloured) rays of purple tint, bringing opulence, has come with (her) lustre; the divine Uṣas, arousing (the sleepers), proceeds with her well-harnessed car (to distribute) felicity.

आ वां वहिष्ठा इह ते वहन्तु रथा अश्वास उषसो व्युष्टौ । इमे हि वां मधुपेयाय सोमा अस्मिन्यज्ञे वृषणा मादयेथाम् ॥

ā vāṃ vahiṣṭhā iha te vahantu rathā aśvāsa uṣaso vyuṣṭau | ime hi vāṃ madhupeyāya somā asminyajñe vṛṣaṇā mādayethām ||

May those robust and active horses bring you, (Aśvins), hither at the breaking of the dawn, and may these Soma juices prepared, showerers (of benefits), for your drinking, exhilarate you at this (our sacrifice).

अनायतो अनिबद्धः कथायं न्यङ्ङुत्तानोऽव पद्यते न । कया याति स्वधया को ददर्श दिवः स्कम्भः समृतः पाति नाकम् ॥

anāyato anibaddhaḥ kathāyaṃ nyaṅṅuttāno'va padyate na | kayā yāti svadhayā ko dadarśa divaḥ skambhaḥ samṛtaḥ pāti nākam ||

This sun, not far removed and unobstructed, whether looking downwards or looking upwards, is harmed by no one; what is the power by which he travels? who has (truly) beheld him who, as the collective pillar of heaven, sustains the sky.
