[rv-3-43] • 8 श्लोकाः

आ याह्यर्वाङुप वन्धुरेष्ठास्तवेदनु प्रदिवः सोमपेयम् । प्रिया सखाया वि मुचोप बर्हिस्त्वामिमे हव्यवाहो हवन्ते ॥

ā yāhyarvāṅupa vandhureṣṭhāstavedanu pradivaḥ somapeyam | priyā sakhāyā vi mucopa barhistvāmime havyavāho havante ||

Descend to us riding in your car, for verily yours is this ancient libation; unharness your beloved and friendly (horses) near to the sacred grass, for these offerers of the oblation present it to you.

आ याहि पूर्वीरति चर्षणीराँ अर्य आशिष उप नो हरिभ्याम् । इमा हि त्वा मतयः स्तोमतष्टा इन्द्र हवन्ते सख्यं जुषाणाः ॥

ā yāhi pūrvīrati carṣaṇīrā~ arya āśiṣa upa no haribhyām | imā hi tvā matayaḥ stomataṣṭā indra havante sakhyaṃ juṣāṇāḥ ||

Passing by multitudes, come hither, noble Indra, with your steeds, (to receive) our benedictions; for these praises, Indra, composed by the devout, invoke you propitiating your friendship.

आ नो यज्ञं नमोवृधं सजोषा इन्द्र देव हरिभिर्याहि तूयम् । अहं हि त्वा मतिभिर्जोहवीमि घृतप्रयाः सधमादे मधूनाम् ॥

ā no yajñaṃ namovṛdhaṃ sajoṣā indra deva haribhiryāhi tūyam | ahaṃ hi tvā matibhirjohavīmi ghṛtaprayāḥ sadhamāde madhūnām ||

Divine Indra, come quickly with your steeds, and well plural ased, to our food-augmenting sacrifice; offering (sacred) food with butter, I invoke you verily with praises in the chamber of the sweet libations.

आ च त्वामेता वृषणा वहातो हरी सखाया सुधुरा स्वङ्गा । धानावदिन्द्रः सवनं जुषाणः सखा सख्युः शृणवद्वन्दनानि ॥

ā ca tvāmetā vṛṣaṇā vahāto harī sakhāyā sudhurā svaṅgā | dhānāvadindraḥ savanaṃ juṣāṇaḥ sakhā sakhyuḥ śṛṇavadvandanāni ||

May these two vigorous friendly burden-bearing and well-limbed steeds convey you hither, where, Indra, approving of the ceremony (in wihc the offering) is parched grain, may hear as a friend the praises of his friend (the worshipper).

कुविन्मा गोपां करसे जनस्य कुविद्राजानं मघवन्नृजीषिन् । कुविन्म ऋषिं पपिवांसं सुतस्य कुविन्मे वस्वो अमृतस्य शिक्षाः ॥

kuvinmā gopāṃ karase janasya kuvidrājānaṃ maghavannṛjīṣin | kuvinma ṛṣiṃ papivāṃsaṃ sutasya kuvinme vasvo amṛtasya śikṣāḥ ||

Possessor of wealth, accept of the spiritless Soma; make me the protector, or rather a monarch of men; make me verily a holy sage, a drinker of the libation; make me verily the possessor of imperishable wealth.

आ त्वा बृहन्तो हरयो युजाना अर्वागिन्द्र सधमादो वहन्तु । प्र ये द्विता दिव ऋञ्जन्त्याताः सुसम्मृष्टासो वृषभस्य मूराः ॥

ā tvā bṛhanto harayo yujānā arvāgindra sadhamādo vahantu | pra ye dvitā diva ṛñjantyātāḥ susammṛṣṭāso vṛṣabhasya mūrāḥ ||

May your mighty horses, Indra, harnessed (in your car), and alike exhilaarated (by Soma), bring you our presence, for they are the destroyers (of the foes) of the showerer (of benefits), and kindly rubbed by his hand they traverse, going quickly, the regions of the sky, making them as it were twofold.

इन्द्र पिब वृषधूतस्य वृष्ण आ यं ते श्येन उशते जभार । यस्य मदे च्यावयसि प्र कृष्टीर्यस्य मदे अप गोत्रा ववर्थ ॥

indra piba vṛṣadhūtasya vṛṣṇa ā yaṃ te śyena uśate jabhāra | yasya made cyāvayasi pra kṛṣṭīryasya made apa gotrā vavartha ||

Drink, Indra, of the bountiful (libation) expressed by the beneficent (stones); that which the falcon has borne to you desiring it, in whose exhilaration you cast down (opposing) men, in whose exhilaration you have set open the clouds.

शुनं हुवेम मघवानमिन्द्रमस्मिन्भरे नृतमं वाजसातौ । शृण्वन्तमुग्रमूतये समत्सु घ्नन्तं वृत्राणि संजितं धनानाम् ॥

śunaṃ huvema maghavānamindramasminbhare nṛtamaṃ vājasātau | śṛṇvantamugramūtaye samatsu ghnantaṃ vṛtrāṇi saṃjitaṃ dhanānām ||

We invoke for our protection the opulent Indra distinguished in this combat, the leader in the food-bestowing (strife), hearing (our praises), terrible in battles, the destroyer of foes, the conqueror of wealth.
