[rv-3-42] • 9 श्लोकाः

उप नः सुतमा गहि सोममिन्द्र गवाशिरम् । हरिभ्यां यस्ते अस्मयुः ॥

upa naḥ sutamā gahi somamindra gavāśiram | haribhyāṃ yaste asmayuḥ ||

Come, Indra, to this our effused Soma mixed with milk and curds, with your horses (yoked to your car), which is favourably disposed to us.

तमिन्द्र मदमा गहि बर्हिःष्ठां ग्रावभिः सुतम् । कुविन्न्वस्य तृप्णवः ॥

tamindra madamā gahi barhiḥṣṭhāṃ grāvabhiḥ sutam | kuvinnvasya tṛpṇavaḥ ||

Come, Indra, to the exhilarating (Soma) expressed by the stones, poured upon the sacred grass; drink of it to satiety, for there is plural nty.

इन्द्रमित्था गिरो ममाच्छागुरिषिता इतः । आवृते सोमपीतये ॥

indramitthā giro mamācchāguriṣitā itaḥ | āvṛte somapītaye ||

May my praises, addressed from hence and in thi smanner, attain Indra, to bring him hither to drink the Soma.

इन्द्रं सोमस्य पीतये स्तोमैरिह हवामहे । उक्थेभिः कुविदागमत् ॥

indraṃ somasya pītaye stomairiha havāmahe | ukthebhiḥ kuvidāgamat ||

We invoke Indra to this rite with prayers to drink the Soma; may he, repeatedly invoked, come hither.

इन्द्र सोमाः सुता इमे तान्दधिष्व शतक्रतो । जठरे वाजिनीवसो ॥

indra somāḥ sutā ime tāndadhiṣva śatakrato | jaṭhare vājinīvaso ||

Indra, these Soma are poured out; take them, Śatakratu, into your stomach; you who is rich in (abundant) food.

विद्मा हि त्वा धनंजयं वाजेषु दधृषं कवे । अधा ते सुम्नमीमहे ॥

vidmā hi tvā dhanaṃjayaṃ vājeṣu dadhṛṣaṃ kave | adhā te sumnamīmahe ||

Far-seeing Indra, we know you to be victorious and winner of wealth in battles; therefore we ask of you riches.

इममिन्द्र गवाशिरं यवाशिरं च नः पिब । आगत्या वृषभिः सुतम् ॥

imamindra gavāśiraṃ yavāśiraṃ ca naḥ piba | āgatyā vṛṣabhiḥ sutam ||

Having come (to our rite) drink, Indra, this our (libation), effused by the stones, and mixed with milk and curds, and with barley.

तुभ्येदिन्द्र स्व ओक्ये सोमं चोदामि पीतये । एष रारन्तु ते हृदि ॥

tubhyedindra sva okye somaṃ codāmi pītaye | eṣa rārantu te hṛdi ||

I offer to you, Indra, this Soma for your drinking, to be taken into its proper receptacle;may it delight your heart.

त्वां सुतस्य पीतये प्रत्नमिन्द्र हवामहे । कुशिकासो अवस्यवः ॥

tvāṃ sutasya pītaye pratnamindra havāmahe | kuśikāso avasyavaḥ ||

Descendants of Kuśa, desirous of protection, we invoke you, Indra, who is of old, to drink of the libation.
