[rv-3-15] • 7 श्लोकाः

वि पाजसा पृथुना शोशुचानो बाधस्व द्विषो रक्षसो अमीवाः । सुशर्मणो बृहतः शर्मणि स्यामग्नेरहं सुहवस्य प्रणीतौ ॥

vi pājasā pṛthunā śośucāno bādhasva dviṣo rakṣaso amīvāḥ | suśarmaṇo bṛhataḥ śarmaṇi syāmagnerahaṃ suhavasya praṇītau ||

Radiant with great glory, repel the hostile rākṣasas and piśācas; may I be in (the enjoyment) of the favour of the great (Agni), the giver of prosperity, and in the service of (him who is) easily invoked.

त्वं नो अस्या उषसो व्युष्टौ त्वं सूर उदिते बोधि गोपाः । जन्मेव नित्यं तनयं जुषस्व स्तोमं मे अग्ने तन्वा सुजात ॥

tvaṃ no asyā uṣaso vyuṣṭau tvaṃ sūra udite bodhi gopāḥ | janmeva nityaṃ tanayaṃ juṣasva stomaṃ me agne tanvā sujāta ||

Consider yourself our protector at the breaking of the dawn today and when the sun has risen; Agni, who is engendered with (embodied) form, be plural ased with my constant praise, as a father (is plural ased with) his son.

त्वं नृचक्षा वृषभानु पूर्वीः कृष्णास्वग्ने अरुषो वि भाहि । वसो नेषि च पर्षि चात्यंहः कृधी नो राय उशिजो यविष्ठ ॥

tvaṃ nṛcakṣā vṛṣabhānu pūrvīḥ kṛṣṇāsvagne aruṣo vi bhāhi | vaso neṣi ca parṣi cātyaṃhaḥ kṛdhī no rāya uśijo yaviṣṭha ||

Showerer (of benefits),beholder of men, radiant amid darkness, shine, Agni, with abundant (rays) in due order; granter of dwellings, conduct us (to good), keep off all ill, and youngest (of all the gods), gratify our desires for wealth.

अषाऴ्हो अग्ने वृषभो दिदीहि पुरो विश्वाः सौभगा संजिगीवान् । यज्ञस्य नेता प्रथमस्य पायोर्जातवेदो बृहतः सुप्रणीते ॥

aṣāḻho agne vṛṣabho didīhi puro viśvāḥ saubhagā saṃjigīvān | yajñasya netā prathamasya pāyorjātavedo bṛhataḥ supraṇīte ||

Agni, who is irresistible and the showerer (of benefits), consume victorious all the cities (of the foe) and (all their) precious things; do you, the duly worshipped, the knower of all that is born, (be for us) the conductor of the first great preserving sacrifice.

अच्छिद्रा शर्म जरितः पुरूणि देवाँ अच्छा दीद्यानः सुमेधाः । रथो न सस्निरभि वक्षि वाजमग्ने त्वं रोदसी नः सुमेके ॥

acchidrā śarma jaritaḥ purūṇi devā~ acchā dīdyānaḥ sumedhāḥ | ratho na sasnirabhi vakṣi vājamagne tvaṃ rodasī naḥ sumeke ||

Destroyer (of the world), do you who is endowed with intelligence and radiance celebrate many faultless sacred rites in honour of the gods, and restraining (your impatience), convey to them like a wagon our (sacrificial) food; illume (with your rays) the beautiful heaven and earth.

प्र पीपय वृषभ जिन्व वाजानग्ने त्वं रोदसी नः सुदोघे । देवेभिर्देव सुरुचा रुचानो मा नो मर्तस्य दुर्मतिः परि ष्ठात् ॥

pra pīpaya vṛṣabha jinva vājānagne tvaṃ rodasī naḥ sudoghe | devebhirdeva surucā rucāno mā no martasya durmatiḥ pari ṣṭhāt ||

Be propitious, showerer (of benefits); grant (abundant) food, Agni; (make) heaven and earth yield us milk; divine (Agni), associated with the gods, shining with bright radiance, let not the ill-will of any mortal prevail against us.

इऴामग्ने पुरुदंसं सनिं गोः शश्वत्तमं हवमानाय साध । स्यान्नः सूनुस्तनयो विजावाग्ने सा ते सुमतिर्भूत्वस्मे ॥

iḻāmagne purudaṃsaṃ saniṃ goḥ śaśvattamaṃ havamānāya sādha | syānnaḥ sūnustanayo vijāvāgne sā te sumatirbhūtvasme ||

Grant, Agni, to the offerer of the oblation, earth the giver of cattle the means of many sacred rites, such that it may long endure; may there be to us sons and grandsons, and may your favour, Agni, be productive of good to us.
