[rv-3-13] • 7 श्लोकाः

प्र वो देवायाग्नये बर्हिष्ठमर्चास्मै । गमद्देवेभिरा स नो यजिष्ठो बर्हिरा सदत् ॥

pra vo devāyāgnaye barhiṣṭhamarcāsmai | gamaddevebhirā sa no yajiṣṭho barhirā sadat ||

(Priests) utter devout (praises) to this your divine Agni, that so glorified he may come to us with gods, and sit down on the sacrificial grass.

ऋतावा यस्य रोदसी दक्षं सचन्त ऊतयः । हविष्मन्तस्तमीऴते तं सनिष्यन्तोऽवसे ॥

ṛtāvā yasya rodasī dakṣaṃ sacanta ūtayaḥ | haviṣmantastamīḻate taṃ saniṣyanto'vase ||

The observer of truth, of whom (are) heaven and earth, and whose vigour the protecting (deities) assist; him, the offerers of oblations adore, and those desirous of riches (have recourse) to him for protection.

स यन्ता विप्र एषां स यज्ञानामथा हि षः । अग्निं तं वो दुवस्यत दाता यो वनिता मघम् ॥

sa yantā vipra eṣāṃ sa yajñānāmathā hi ṣaḥ | agniṃ taṃ vo duvasyata dātā yo vanitā magham ||

He, the sage, is the director of those (who sacrifice), he is (the regulator) of sacrifices; worship him you (benefactor), the donor, who is the bestower of wealth.

स नः शर्माणि वीतयेऽग्निर्यच्छतु शंतमा । यतो नः प्रुष्णवद्वसु दिवि क्षितिभ्यो अप्स्वा ॥

sa naḥ śarmāṇi vītaye'gniryacchatu śaṃtamā | yato naḥ pruṣṇavadvasu divi kṣitibhyo apsvā ||

May that Agni bestow upon us prosperous dwellings for our maintenance, so that from him infinite wealth, whether it may be in heaven or from earth, or in the waters (may come to us).

दीदिवांसमपूर्व्यं वस्वीभिरस्य धीतिभिः । ऋक्वाणो अग्निमिन्धते होतारं विश्पतिं विशाम् ॥

dīdivāṃsamapūrvyaṃ vasvībhirasya dhītibhiḥ | ṛkvāṇo agnimindhate hotāraṃ viśpatiṃ viśām ||

The devout kindle (the fire) with his wealth-obtaining rites, (to worship) the radiant, unpreceded Agni, the invoker (of the gods), the protector of men.

उत नो ब्रह्मन्नविष उक्थेषु देवहूतमः । शं नः शोचा मरुद्वृधोऽग्ने सहस्रसातमः ॥

uta no brahmannaviṣa uktheṣu devahūtamaḥ | śaṃ naḥ śocā marudvṛdho'gne sahasrasātamaḥ ||

Perfect our prayer, invoker of the gods, as well as our hymns; Agni, who increases with the winds and the giver of thousands, augment our felicity.

नू नो रास्व सहस्रवत्तोकवत्पुष्टिमद्वसु । द्युमदग्ने सुवीर्यं वर्षिष्ठमनुपक्षितम् ॥

nū no rāsva sahasravattokavatpuṣṭimadvasu | dyumadagne suvīryaṃ varṣiṣṭhamanupakṣitam ||

Grant us indeed, Agni, wealth (that may be counted) by thousands, and comprising offspring, nourishment, brilliant treasure, and vigour, and be infinite and inexhaustible.
