[rv-3-12] • 9 श्लोकाः

इन्द्राग्नी आ गतं सुतं गीर्भिर्नभो वरेण्यम् । अस्य पातं धियेषिता ॥

indrāgnī ā gataṃ sutaṃ gīrbhirnabho vareṇyam | asya pātaṃ dhiyeṣitā ||

Indra and Agni, come to this acceptable libation, (brought) by our praises from heaven, and induced by (our) devotion to drink of it.

इन्द्राग्नी जरितुः सचा यज्ञो जिगाति चेतनः । अया पातमिमं सुतम् ॥

indrāgnī jarituḥ sacā yajño jigāti cetanaḥ | ayā pātamimaṃ sutam ||

Indra and Agni, the conscious sacrifice associated with the worshipper proceeds to you; (summoned) by this (invocation) drink the libation.

इन्द्रमग्निं कविच्छदा यज्ञस्य जूत्या वृणे । ता सोमस्येह तृम्पताम् ॥

indramagniṃ kavicchadā yajñasya jūtyā vṛṇe | tā somasyeha tṛmpatām ||

Urged by the energy of the sacrifice, I have recourse to Indra and Agni, the protectors of the pious; may they be satiated with the Soma here presented.

तोशा वृत्रहणा हुवे सजित्वानापराजिता । इन्द्राग्नी वाजसातमा ॥

tośā vṛtrahaṇā huve sajitvānāparājitā | indrāgnī vājasātamā ||

I invoke Indra and Agni, the discomfiters of foes, the destroyers of Vṛtra, the victorious, the invincible, the bestowers of most abundant food.

प्र वामर्चन्त्युक्थिनो नीथाविदो जरितारः । इन्द्राग्नी इष आ वृणे ॥

pra vāmarcantyukthino nīthāvido jaritāraḥ | indrāgnī iṣa ā vṛṇe ||

The reciters of prayers, the repeaters of praise, who are skilled in sacred song, worship you both; I have recourse to Indra and Agni for food.

इन्द्राग्नी नवतिं पुरो दासपत्नीरधूनुतम् । साकमेकेन कर्मणा ॥

indrāgnī navatiṃ puro dāsapatnīradhūnutam | sākamekena karmaṇā ||

Indra and Agni, with one united effort you over-threw ninety cities ruled over by (your) foes.

इन्द्राग्नी अपसस्पर्युप प्र यन्ति धीतयः । ऋतस्य पथ्या अनु ॥

indrāgnī apasasparyupa pra yanti dhītayaḥ | ṛtasya pathyā anu ||

Indra and Agni the pious ministers, are present at our holy rite, according to the wave of worship.

इन्द्राग्नी तविषाणि वां सधस्थानि प्रयांसि च । युवोरप्तूर्यं हितम् ॥

indrāgnī taviṣāṇi vāṃ sadhasthāni prayāṃsi ca | yuvoraptūryaṃ hitam ||

Indra and Agni, in you, vigour and food are abiding together, and therefore in you is deposited the dispensing of water.

इन्द्राग्नी रोचना दिवः परि वाजेषु भूषथः । तद्वां चेति प्र वीर्यम् ॥

indrāgnī rocanā divaḥ pari vājeṣu bhūṣathaḥ | tadvāṃ ceti pra vīryam ||

Indra and Agni, illuminators of heaven, be ever graced (with victory) in battles, for such your prowess proclaims.
