ऋग्वेद 2.8 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

वाजयन्निव नू रथान्योगाँ अग्नेरुप स्तुहि । यशस्तमस्य मीऴ्हुषः ॥

vājayanniva nū rathānyogā~ agnerupa stuhi | yaśastamasya mīḻhuṣaḥ ||

Praise quickly the yoked chariot of the glorious and munificent Agni, like one who is desirous of food.

यः सुनीथो ददाशुषेऽजुर्यो जरयन्नरिम् । चारुप्रतीक आहुतः ॥

yaḥ sunītho dadāśuṣe'juryo jarayannarim | cārupratīka āhutaḥ ||

Who, sagacious, invincible, and of graceful gait destroys, when propitiated, his foe, for him who presents (offerings).

य उ श्रिया दमेष्वा दोषोषसि प्रशस्यते । यस्य व्रतं न मीयते ॥

ya u śriyā dameṣvā doṣoṣasi praśasyate | yasya vrataṃ na mīyate ||

Who invested with radiance, is glorified, morning and evening, in (our) dwelling; whose worship is never neglected.

आ यः स्वर्ण भानुना चित्रो विभात्यर्चिषा । अञ्जानो अजरैरभि ॥

ā yaḥ svarṇa bhānunā citro vibhātyarciṣā | añjāno ajarairabhi ||

Who, many-tinted, shines with radiance, like the sun with (his) lustre, spreading (light) over (all) by his imperishable (flames).

अत्रिमनु स्वराज्यमग्निमुक्थानि वावृधुः । विश्वा अधि श्रियो दधे ॥

atrimanu svarājyamagnimukthāni vāvṛdhuḥ | viśvā adhi śriyo dadhe ||

Our praises have increased the self-irradiating devouringn Agni; he is possessed of all glory.

अग्नेरिन्द्रस्य सोमस्य देवानामूतिभिर्वयम् । अरिष्यन्तः सचेमह्यभि ष्याम पृतन्यतः ॥

agnerindrasya somasya devānāmūtibhirvayam | ariṣyantaḥ sacemahyabhi ṣyāma pṛtanyataḥ ||

May we, uninjured, be secure in the protection of Agni, Indra, Soma and the gods, and confident in battle overcome (our enemies).
