[rv-2-41] • 21 श्लोकाः

वायो ये ते सहस्रिणो रथासस्तेभिरा गहि । नियुत्वान्त्सोमपीतये ॥

vāyo ye te sahasriṇo rathāsastebhirā gahi | niyutvāntsomapītaye ||

Vāyu, whose are a thousand chariots, and the Niyut steeds, come to drink the Soma.

नियुत्वान्वायवा गह्ययं शुक्रो अयामि ते । गन्तासि सुन्वतो गृहम् ॥

niyutvānvāyavā gahyayaṃ śukro ayāmi te | gantāsi sunvato gṛham ||

Vāyu,of the Niyut steds, approach; this bright (juice) has been accepted by you, for you go to the dwelling of the offerer of the libation.

शुक्रस्याद्य गवाशिर इन्द्रवायू नियुत्वतः । आ यातं पिबतं नरा ॥

śukrasyādya gavāśira indravāyū niyutvataḥ | ā yātaṃ pibataṃ narā ||

Leaders (of rites), Indra and Vāyu, lords of the Niyut steeds, come and drink today the mixture of milk and of the pure Soma.

अयं वां मित्रावरुणा सुतः सोम ऋतावृधा । ममेदिह श्रुतं हवम् ॥

ayaṃ vāṃ mitrāvaruṇā sutaḥ soma ṛtāvṛdhā | mamediha śrutaṃ havam ||

This libation is offered to you, Mitra and Varuṇa, cherishers of truth; hear, verily, this my present invocatioṇ

राजानावनभिद्रुहा ध्रुवे सदस्युत्तमे । सहस्रस्थूण आसाते ॥

rājānāvanabhidruhā dhruve sadasyuttame | sahasrasthūṇa āsāte ||

Sovereigns, exercising no oppression, sit down in this substantial and elegant hall, (built) with a thousand columns.

ता सम्राजा घृतासुती आदित्या दानुनस्पती । सचेते अनवह्वरम् ॥

tā samrājā ghṛtāsutī ādityā dānunaspatī | sacete anavahvaram ||

May these two universal monarchs, fed with clarified butter, sons of Aditi, lords of liberality, show favour to their sincere (worshipper).

गोमदू षु नासत्याश्वावद्यातमश्विना । वर्ती रुद्रा नृपाय्यम् ॥

gomadū ṣu nāsatyāśvāvadyātamaśvinā | vartī rudrā nṛpāyyam ||

Aśvins, in whom there is no untruth; Rudras, go by the (direct) road to (the sacrifice at which the libation) is to be drunk by the leaders (of sacred rite), for which (the offerer may receive the reward of) cows and horses.

न यत्परो नान्तर आदधर्षद्वृषण्वसू । दुःशंसो मर्त्यो रिपुः ॥

na yatparo nāntara ādadharṣadvṛṣaṇvasū | duḥśaṃso martyo ripuḥ ||

Showerers of wealth, (bring to us) such (riches) that the malevolent man, or foe, whether he be far off or nigh, may not take (it) away.

ता न आ वोऴ्हमश्विना रयिं पिशङ्गसंदृशम् । धिष्ण्या वरिवोविदम् ॥

tā na ā voḻhamaśvinā rayiṃ piśaṅgasaṃdṛśam | dhiṣṇyā varivovidam ||

Resolute Aśvins, bring to us riches of various sorts, and wealth begetting wealth.

इन्द्रो अङ्ग महद्भयमभी षदप चुच्यवत् । स हि स्थिरो विचर्षणिः ॥

indro aṅga mahadbhayamabhī ṣadapa cucyavat | sa hi sthiro vicarṣaṇiḥ ||

May Indra, dissipate all great and overpowering danger, for he is resolute, and the beholder of all.

इन्द्रश्च मृऴयाति नो न नः पश्चादघं नशत् । भद्रं भवाति नः पुरः ॥

indraśca mṛḻayāti no na naḥ paścādaghaṃ naśat | bhadraṃ bhavāti naḥ puraḥ ||

If Indra provide for our happiness, evil will not come behidn us, good will be before us.

इन्द्र आशाभ्यस्परि सर्वाभ्यो अभयं करत् । जेता शत्रून्विचर्षणिः ॥

indra āśābhyaspari sarvābhyo abhayaṃ karat | jetā śatrūnvicarṣaṇiḥ ||

Let Indra, the beholder of all, the conqueror of foes, send us security from all quarters.

विश्वे देवास आ गत शृणुता म इमं हवम् । एदं बर्हिर्नि षीदत ॥

viśve devāsa ā gata śṛṇutā ma imaṃ havam | edaṃ barhirni ṣīdata ||

Universal gods, come hither; hear this my invocation; sit down upon this sacred grass.

तीव्रो वो मधुमाँ अयं शुनहोत्रेषु मत्सरः । एतं पिबत काम्यम् ॥

tīvro vo madhumā~ ayaṃ śunahotreṣu matsaraḥ | etaṃ pibata kāmyam ||

This sharp, savoury, exhilarating (beverage), is (prepared) for you by the Śunahotras; drink of it at your plural asure.

इन्द्रज्येष्ठा मरुद्गणा देवासः पूषरातयः । विश्वे मम श्रुता हवम् ॥

indrajyeṣṭhā marudgaṇā devāsaḥ pūṣarātayaḥ | viśve mama śrutā havam ||

Maruts, of whom Indra is the chief; divinities, of whom Pūṣan. is benefactor; do you all hear my invocation.

अम्बितमे नदीतमे देवितमे सरस्वति । अप्रशस्ता इव स्मसि प्रशस्तिमम्ब नस्कृधि ॥

ambitame nadītame devitame sarasvati | apraśastā iva smasi praśastimamba naskṛdhi ||

Sarasvatī, best of mothers, best of rivers, best of goddesses, we are, as it were, of no repute; grant us, mother, distinction.

त्वे विश्वा सरस्वति श्रितायूंषि देव्याम् । शुनहोत्रेषु मत्स्व प्रजां देवि दिदिड्ढि नः ॥

tve viśvā sarasvati śritāyūṃṣi devyām | śunahotreṣu matsva prajāṃ devi didiḍḍhi naḥ ||

In you, Sarasvatī, who are divine, all existences are collected; rejoice, goddess, among the Śunahotras, grant us, goddess, progeny.

इमा ब्रह्म सरस्वति जुषस्व वाजिनीवति । या ते मन्म गृत्समदा ऋतावरि प्रिया देवेषु जुह्वति ॥

imā brahma sarasvati juṣasva vājinīvati | yā te manma gṛtsamadā ṛtāvari priyā deveṣu juhvati ||

Sarasvatī, abounding in food, abounding in water, be propitiated by these oblations, which the Gṛtsamadas offer as acceptable to you, and precious of the gods.

प्रेतां यज्ञस्य शम्भुवा युवामिदा वृणीमहे । अग्निं च हव्यवाहनम् ॥

pretāṃ yajñasya śambhuvā yuvāmidā vṛṇīmahe | agniṃ ca havyavāhanam ||

May the two, (Heaven and Earth), who confer good fortune upon the sacrifice, proceed (to the altar); for verily, we implore you both (to com), as well as Agni the bearer of oblations.

द्यावा नः पृथिवी इमं सिध्रमद्य दिविस्पृशम् । यज्ञं देवेषु यच्छताम् ॥

dyāvā naḥ pṛthivī imaṃ sidhramadya divispṛśam | yajñaṃ deveṣu yacchatām ||

Heaven and Earth, bear to the gods today our heaven aspiring sacrifice, the means of obtaining svarga.

आ वामुपस्थमद्रुहा देवाः सीदन्तु यज्ञियाः । इहाद्य सोमपीतये ॥

ā vāmupasthamadruhā devāḥ sīdantu yajñiyāḥ | ihādya somapītaye ||

May the adorable gods, devoice of malice, sit down today nigh to you both to drink the Soma.
