त्वमग्ने द्युभिस्त्वमाशुशुक्षणिस्त्वमद्भ्यस्त्वमश्मनस्परि । त्वं वनेभ्यस्त्वमोषधीभ्यस्त्वं नृणां नृपते जायसे शुचिः ॥

tvamagne dyubhistvamāśuśukṣaṇistvamadbhyastvamaśmanaspari | tvaṃ vanebhyastvamoṣadhībhyastvaṃ nṛṇāṃ nṛpate jāyase śuciḥ ||

Sovereign of men, Agni, you are born for the days (of sacrifice), pure and all-irradiating, from the waters, from the stones, from trees, and from plural nts.

तवाग्ने होत्रं तव पोत्रमृत्वियं तव नेष्ट्रं त्वमग्निदृतायतः । तव प्रशास्त्रं त्वमध्वरीयसि ब्रह्मा चासि गृहपतिश्च नो दमे ॥

tavāgne hotraṃ tava potramṛtviyaṃ tava neṣṭraṃ tvamagnidṛtāyataḥ | tava praśāstraṃ tvamadhvarīyasi brahmā cāsi gṛhapatiśca no dame ||

Yours Agni, is the office of the Hotā, of the Potā, of the Ṛtvij, of the Neṣṭā; you are the Agnīdhra of the devout; yours is the functionof the Praśāstā; you are the Adhvaryu (adhvaryu radhvarayur adhvaram kāmayata iti vā (Nirukta 1.8) and the Brahmā; and the householder in our dwelling.

त्वमग्न इन्द्रो वृषभः सतामसि त्वं विष्णुरुरुगायो नमस्यः । त्वं ब्रह्मा रयिविद्ब्रह्मणस्पते त्वं विधर्तः सचसे पुरंध्या ॥

tvamagna indro vṛṣabhaḥ satāmasi tvaṃ viṣṇururugāyo namasyaḥ | tvaṃ brahmā rayividbrahmaṇaspate tvaṃ vidhartaḥ sacase puraṃdhyā ||

You, Agni, are Indra, the showerer (of bounties) on the good; you are adorable Viṣṇu, the hymned of many; you Brahmaṇaspati, are Brahmā, the possessor of riches; you, the author of various (conditions) are associated with wisdom.

त्वमग्ने राजा वरुणो धृतव्रतस्त्वं मित्रो भवसि दस्म ईड्यः । त्वमर्यमा सत्पतिर्यस्य सम्भुजं त्वमंशो विदथे देव भाजयुः ॥

tvamagne rājā varuṇo dhṛtavratastvaṃ mitro bhavasi dasma īḍyaḥ | tvamaryamā satpatiryasya sambhujaṃ tvamaṃśo vidathe deva bhājayuḥ ||

You, Agni, are the royal Varuṇa, observant of holy vows; you are the adorable Mitra, the destroyer (of foes); you are Aryaman, the protector of the virtuous, whose (liberality) is enjoyed by all; you are a portion (of the sun); be the distributor (of good things), divine (Agni), at our sacrifice.

त्वमग्ने त्वष्टा विधते सुवीर्यं तव ग्नावो मित्रमहः सजात्यम् । त्वमाशुहेमा ररिषे स्वश्व्यं त्वं नरां शर्धो असि पुरूवसुः ॥

tvamagne tvaṣṭā vidhate suvīryaṃ tava gnāvo mitramahaḥ sajātyam | tvamāśuhemā rariṣe svaśvyaṃ tvaṃ narāṃ śardho asi purūvasuḥ ||

You, Agni, are Tvaṣṭā, (the giver) of great wealth to (your) worshipper; these praises are yours; do you, of benevolent power, (admit) our affinity; you, who are prompt to encourage (us), give us good (store of) horses; you, who abound with opulence, are the strength of men.

त्वमग्ने रुद्रो असुरो महो दिवस्त्वं शर्धो मारुतं पृक्ष ईशिषे । त्वं वातैररुणैर्यासि शंगयस्त्वं पूषा विधतः पासि नु त्मना ॥

tvamagne rudro asuro maho divastvaṃ śardho mārutaṃ pṛkṣa īśiṣe | tvaṃ vātairaruṇairyāsi śaṃgayastvaṃ pūṣā vidhataḥ pāsi nu tmanā ||

You, Agni, are Rudra, the expeller (of foes) from the expanse of heaven; you are the strength of the Maruts; you are supreme over (sacrificial) food; you, who are plural asantly domiciled (in the hall of sacrifice), go with ruddy horses, (fleet as) the wind; as Pūṣan, you cherish, of yours own will, those who offer worship.

त्वमग्ने द्रविणोदा अरंकृते त्वं देवः सविता रत्नधा असि । त्वं भगो नृपते वस्व ईशिषे त्वं पायुर्दमे यस्तेऽविधत् ॥

tvamagne draviṇodā araṃkṛte tvaṃ devaḥ savitā ratnadhā asi | tvaṃ bhago nṛpate vasva īśiṣe tvaṃ pāyurdame yaste'vidhat ||

You, Agni, are Draviṇodās, to him who honours you; you are the divine Savitā, the possessor of precious things; protector of men, you are Bhaga, and rule over wealth; you are the cherisher of him who worships you in his dwelling.

त्वामग्ने दम आ विश्पतिं विशस्त्वां राजानं सुविदत्रमृञ्जते । त्वं विश्वानि स्वनीक पत्यसे त्वं सहस्राणि शता दश प्रति ॥

tvāmagne dama ā viśpatiṃ viśastvāṃ rājānaṃ suvidatramṛñjate | tvaṃ viśvāni svanīka patyase tvaṃ sahasrāṇi śatā daśa prati ||

The people adore you, Agni, the protector of the people in their dwellings; they propitiate you as a benevolent sovereign; leader of a radiant host, you are lord over all offerings; you are the distributor of tens, and hundreds, and thousands (of good things).

त्वामग्ने पितरमिष्टिभिर्नरस्त्वां भ्रात्राय शम्या तनूरुचम् । त्वं पुत्रो भवसि यस्तेऽविधत्त्वं सखा सुशेवः पास्याधृषः ॥

tvāmagne pitaramiṣṭibhirnarastvāṃ bhrātrāya śamyā tanūrucam | tvaṃ putro bhavasi yaste'vidhattvaṃ sakhā suśevaḥ pāsyādhṛṣaḥ ||

(Devout) men (worship) you, Agni, as a father, with sacred rites; they (cherish) you, who are the illumination of the body, with acts (of kindness), as a brother; you are as a son to him who propitiates you; and you protect us, a faithful and firm friend.

त्वमग्न ऋभुराके नमस्यस्त्वं वाजस्य क्षुमतो राय ईशिषे । त्वं वि भास्यनु दक्षि दावने त्वं विशिक्षुरसि यज्ञमातनिः ॥

tvamagna ṛbhurāke namasyastvaṃ vājasya kṣumato rāya īśiṣe | tvaṃ vi bhāsyanu dakṣi dāvane tvaṃ viśikṣurasi yajñamātaniḥ ||

You, Agni, are (ever) resplendent, and are to be glorified when present; you are lord over all renowned food and riches; you shine brightly, and you consume (the oblation) for him who offers it; you are the especial accomplisher of the sacrifice, and bestower (of its rewards).

त्वमग्ने अदितिर्देव दाशुषे त्वं होत्रा भारती वर्धसे गिरा । त्वमिऴा शतहिमासि दक्षसे त्वं वृत्रहा वसुपते सरस्वती ॥

tvamagne aditirdeva dāśuṣe tvaṃ hotrā bhāratī vardhase girā | tvamiḻā śatahimāsi dakṣase tvaṃ vṛtrahā vasupate sarasvatī ||

You, divine Agni, are Aditi to the donor of the oblation; you are Hotā and Bhāratī, and thive by praise; you are Iḷā of a hundred winters to him who makes you gifts; you, lord of wealth, are the destroyer of Vṛtra, Sarasvatī.

त्वमग्ने सुभृत उत्तमं वयस्तव स्पार्हे वर्ण आ संदृशि श्रियः । त्वं वाजः प्रतरणो बृहन्नसि त्वं रयिर्बहुलो विश्वतस्पृथुः ॥

tvamagne subhṛta uttamaṃ vayastava spārhe varṇa ā saṃdṛśi śriyaḥ | tvaṃ vājaḥ prataraṇo bṛhannasi tvaṃ rayirbahulo viśvataspṛthuḥ ||

When, well-cherished Agni, you are (the giver of) excellent food; in your desirable and delightful hues, beauties (abound) you (are) food; (you are) the transporter (beyond sin); you are mighty; you are wealth; you are manifold, and everhwhere diffused.

त्वामग्न आदित्यास आस्यं त्वां जिह्वां शुचयश्चक्रिरे कवे । त्वां रातिषाचो अध्वरेषु सश्चिरे त्वे देवा हविरदन्त्याहुतम् ॥

tvāmagna ādityāsa āsyaṃ tvāṃ jihvāṃ śucayaścakrire kave | tvāṃ rātiṣāco adhvareṣu saścire tve devā haviradantyāhutam ||

The Ādityas have made you, Agni, their mouth; the pure (deities) have made you, Kavi, their tongue; the (gods), the givers of wealth, depdn upon you at sacrifices; they eat the offered oblation through you.

त्वे अग्ने विश्वे अमृतासो अद्रुह आसा देवा हविरदन्त्याहुतम् । त्वया मर्तासः स्वदन्त आसुतिं त्वं गर्भो वीरुधां जज्ञिषे शुचिः ॥

tve agne viśve amṛtāso adruha āsā devā haviradantyāhutam | tvayā martāsaḥ svadanta āsutiṃ tvaṃ garbho vīrudhāṃ jajñiṣe śuciḥ ||

All the benignant immortal gods eat the offered oblation through you, as their mouth; mortals taste the flavour (of all viands) through you; you are born pure the embryo of plural nts.

त्वं तान्त्सं च प्रति चासि मज्मनाग्ने सुजात प्र च देव रिच्यसे । पृक्षो यदत्र महिना वि ते भुवदनु द्यावापृथिवी रोदसी उभे ॥

tvaṃ tāntsaṃ ca prati cāsi majmanāgne sujāta pra ca deva ricyase | pṛkṣo yadatra mahinā vi te bhuvadanu dyāvāpṛthivī rodasī ubhe ||

You are associated, Agni, by your vigour, with those (gods); divine, well-born Agni, you exceed (them in strength); for the (sacrificial) food that is here prepared is, by your power, subsequently diffused through both regions, heaven and earth.

ये स्तोतृभ्यो गोअग्रामश्वपेशसमग्ने रातिमुपसृजन्ति सूरयः । अस्माञ्च ताँश्च प्र हि नेषि वस्य आ बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः ॥

ye stotṛbhyo goagrāmaśvapeśasamagne rātimupasṛjanti sūrayaḥ | asmāñca tā~śca pra hi neṣi vasya ā bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ ||

The pious are they who present, as a gift, to the reciters of your praises, an excellent cow and an excellent horse; do you, Agni, lead both us and them to the best of abodes, (or heaven), that we and our worthy descendants may repeat the solemn prayer to you at the sacrifice.
