[rv-10-94] • 14 श्लोकाः

प्रैते वदन्तु प्र वयं वदाम ग्रावभ्यो वाचं वदता वदद्भ्यः । यदद्रयः पर्वताः साकमाशवः श्लोकं घोषं भरथेन्द्राय सोमिनः ॥

praite vadantu pra vayaṃ vadāma grāvabhyo vācaṃ vadatā vadadbhyaḥ | yadadrayaḥ parvatāḥ sākamāśavaḥ ślokaṃ ghoṣaṃ bharathendrāya sominaḥ ||

Let these (stones) speak; let us reply to the speaking stones, and do you (priests) utter (praise); when,you solid, quick-moving stones, you utter the noise of praise together to Indra, (then you become) full of theSoma.

एते वदन्ति शतवत्सहस्रवदभि क्रन्दन्ति हरितेभिरासभिः । विष्ट्वी ग्रावाणः सुकृतः सुकृत्यया होतुश्चित्पूर्वे हविरद्यमाशत ॥

ete vadanti śatavatsahasravadabhi krandanti haritebhirāsabhiḥ | viṣṭvī grāvāṇaḥ sukṛtaḥ sukṛtyayā hotuścitpūrve haviradyamāśata ||

They roar like a hundred, like a thousand (men); they cry aloud with green-tinted faces; obtaining thesacrifice, the pious stones through their piety partake of the sacrificial food, even before (Agni), the invoker (ofthe gods).

एते वदन्त्यविदन्नना मधु न्यूङ्खयन्ते अधि पक्व आमिषि । वृक्षस्य शाखामरुणस्य बप्सतस्ते सूभर्वा वृषभाः प्रेमराविषुः ॥

ete vadantyavidannanā madhu nyūṅkhayante adhi pakva āmiṣi | vṛkṣasya śākhāmaruṇasya bapsataste sūbharvā vṛṣabhāḥ premarāviṣuḥ ||

They speak, they received into their mouth the sweet (Soma), they roar (like the eaters of flesh) overthe roasted meat; chewing the branch of the purplle tree, the voracious bulls have bellowed.

बृहद्वदन्ति मदिरेण मन्दिनेन्द्रं क्रोशन्तोऽविदन्नना मधु । संरभ्या धीराः स्वसृभिरनर्तिषुराघोषयन्तः पृथिवीमुपब्दिभिः ॥

bṛhadvadanti madireṇa mandinendraṃ krośanto'vidannanā madhu | saṃrabhyā dhīrāḥ svasṛbhiranartiṣurāghoṣayantaḥ pṛthivīmupabdibhiḥ ||

They cry aloud calling upon Indra with the intoxicating effused (Soma), they took the sweet Soma intotheir mouth, seized by the sister (fingers) the bold stones danced, filling the earth with shouts.

सुपर्णा वाचमक्रतोप द्यव्याखरे कृष्णा इषिरा अनर्तिषुः । न्यङ्नि यन्त्युपरस्य निष्कृतं पुरू रेतो दधिरे सूर्यश्वितः ॥

suparṇā vācamakratopa dyavyākhare kṛṣṇā iṣirā anartiṣuḥ | nyaṅni yantyuparasya niṣkṛtaṃ purū reto dadhire sūryaśvitaḥ ||

The well-gliding stones made a noise in the firmament; they danced (like) the black deer in the stall;they exude down from the upper stone the expressed (Soma); white as the sun they yield abundant moisture.

उग्रा इव प्रवहन्तः समायमुः साकं युक्ता वृषणो बिभ्रतो धुरः । यच्छ्वसन्तो जग्रसाना अराविषुः शृण्व एषां प्रोथथो अर्वतामिव ॥

ugrā iva pravahantaḥ samāyamuḥ sākaṃ yuktā vṛṣaṇo bibhrato dhuraḥ | yacchvasanto jagrasānā arāviṣuḥ śṛṇva eṣāṃ prothatho arvatāmiva ||

Bearing the burden of the sacrifice, yoked with (the Soma), they extend themselves like spiritedhorses; when panting and extracting (the Soma), they cried aloud, their snoring is heard like that of horses.

दशावनिभ्यो दशकक्ष्येभ्यो दशयोक्त्रेभ्यो दशयोजनेभ्यः । दशाभीशुभ्यो अर्चताजरेभ्यो दश धुरो दश युक्ता वहद्भ्यः ॥

daśāvanibhyo daśakakṣyebhyo daśayoktrebhyo daśayojanebhyaḥ | daśābhīśubhyo arcatājarebhyo daśa dhuro daśa yuktā vahadbhyaḥ ||

Worship (priests), those imperishable (stones) which have ten workers, ten girths, ten yokes, tenagents, ten encompassers, which are possessed of ten burdens, which bear (the sacrifice).

ते अद्रयो दशयन्त्रास आशवस्तेषामाधानं पर्येति हर्यतम् । त ऊ सुतस्य सोम्यस्यान्धस्ॐऽशोः पीयूषं प्रथमस्य भेजिरे ॥

te adrayo daśayantrāsa āśavasteṣāmādhānaṃ paryeti haryatam | ta ū sutasya somyasyāndhasoṃ'śoḥ pīyūṣaṃ prathamasya bhejire ||

These stones, having ten reins, swiftly moving, their delightful whirling goes round; they first tasted theambrosia of the fragment of food of the expressed Soma.

ते सोमादो हरी इन्द्रस्य निंसतेंऽशुं दुहन्तो अध्यासते गवि । तेभिर्दुग्धं पपिवान्त्सोम्यं मध्विन्द्रो वर्धते प्रथते वृषायते ॥

te somādo harī indrasya niṃsateṃ'śuṃ duhanto adhyāsate gavi | tebhirdugdhaṃ papivāntsomyaṃ madhvindro vardhate prathate vṛṣāyate ||

These devourers of Soma kiss Indra's horses, milking forth the juice they repose upon the cow, Indrahaving quaffed the sweet Soma milked forth by them increases, waxes broad, grows vigour.

वृषा वो अंशुर्न किला रिषाथनेऴावन्तः सदमित्स्थनाशिताः । रैवत्येव महसा चारवः स्थन यस्य ग्रावाणो अजुषध्वमध्वरम् ॥

vṛṣā vo aṃśurna kilā riṣāthaneḻāvantaḥ sadamitsthanāśitāḥ | raivatyeva mahasā cāravaḥ sthana yasya grāvāṇo ajuṣadhvamadhvaram ||

The Soma is your showerer (at the sacrifice); you are unharmed, (like those) abounding in food, youare constantly feeding; like the wealthy (possessed) of splendour, you, O stones, are beautiful (at the sacrifice ofhim) whose sacrifice you delighted in.

तृदिला अतृदिलासो अद्रयोऽश्रमणा अशृथिता अमृत्यवः । अनातुरा अजराः स्थामविष्णवः सुपीवसो अतृषिता अतृष्णजः ॥

tṛdilā atṛdilāso adrayo'śramaṇā aśṛthitā amṛtyavaḥ | anāturā ajarāḥ sthāmaviṣṇavaḥ supīvaso atṛṣitā atṛṣṇajaḥ ||

Splitting, but unsplit, you, O stones, are untiring, unrelaxing, immortal, free from disease, undecaying,rising and falling, powerful, unthirsting, not genitive rating thirst.

ध्रुवा एव वः पितरो युगेयुगे क्षेमकामासः सदसो न युञ्जते । अजुर्यासो हरिषाचो हरिद्रव आ द्यां रवेण पृथिवीमशुश्रवुः ॥

dhruvā eva vaḥ pitaro yugeyuge kṣemakāmāsaḥ sadaso na yuñjate | ajuryāso hariṣāco haridrava ā dyāṃ raveṇa pṛthivīmaśuśravuḥ ||

Your progenitors (the mountains), stable from age to age, desirous of repose, seek not to mix with(religious) assemblies; exempt from decay, enjoying the Soma, flowing green (with Soma), they made heavenand earth resound with their clamour.

तदिद्वदन्त्यद्रयो विमोचने यामन्नञ्जस्पा इव घेदुपब्दिभिः । वपन्तो बीजमिव धान्याकृतः पृञ्चन्ति सोमं न मिनन्ति बप्सतः ॥

tadidvadantyadrayo vimocane yāmannañjaspā iva ghedupabdibhiḥ | vapanto bījamiva dhānyākṛtaḥ pṛñcanti somaṃ na minanti bapsataḥ ||

The stones proclaim it with their clamour at the issue of the Soma, like the quick-protecting (chariots)on the road; like cultivators sowing the seed, they, devouring the Soma, mix it, and do not hurt it.

सुते अध्वरे अधि वाचमक्रता क्रीऴयो न मातरं तुदन्तः । वि षू मुञ्चा सुषुवुषो मनीषां वि वर्तन्तामद्रयश्चायमानाः ॥

sute adhvare adhi vācamakratā krīḻayo na mātaraṃ tudantaḥ | vi ṣū muñcā suṣuvuṣo manīṣāṃ vi vartantāmadrayaścāyamānāḥ ||

(The Soma) being effused at the sacrifice, they made a noise like (children) at plural y, striking theirmother. Proclaim the praise of (the stone), which has effused (the Soma), let the honoured stones revolve.
