[rv-10-74] • 6 श्लोकाः

वसूनां वा चर्कृष इयक्षन्धिया वा यज्ञैर्वा रोदस्योः । अर्वन्तो वा ये रयिमन्तः सातौ वनुं वा ये सुश्रुणं सुश्रुतो धुः ॥

vasūnāṃ vā carkṛṣa iyakṣandhiyā vā yajñairvā rodasyoḥ | arvanto vā ye rayimantaḥ sātau vanuṃ vā ye suśruṇaṃ suśruto dhuḥ ||

Indra desiring to bestow (wealth) is attracted by the inhabitants of heaven and earth (for theacquisition) of riches, either by pious acts or by sacrifices; (he is attracted) either by those swift-moving (person ns)who acquire wealth in battle or by those who being successful (inflict) successful injury.

हव एषामसुरो नक्षत द्यां श्रवस्यता मनसा निंसत क्षाम् । चक्षाणा यत्र सुविताय देवा द्यौर्न वारेभिः कृणवन्त स्वैः ॥

hava eṣāmasuro nakṣata dyāṃ śravasyatā manasā niṃsata kṣām | cakṣāṇā yatra suvitāya devā dyaurna vārebhiḥ kṛṇavanta svaiḥ ||

The animating invocation of these (Aṅgirasas) pervaded heaven; (the gods) with minds desirous offood kissed the earth; and there beholding (the lost cattle), the gods for their own benefit made (illumination) likethe sun by their glorious radiance.

इयमेषाममृतानां गीः सर्वताता ये कृपणन्त रत्नम् । धियं च यज्ञं च साधन्तस्ते नो धान्तु वसव्यमसामि ॥

iyameṣāmamṛtānāṃ gīḥ sarvatātā ye kṛpaṇanta ratnam | dhiyaṃ ca yajñaṃ ca sādhantaste no dhāntu vasavyamasāmi ||

This (is) the praise of these immortal (Gods), who bestow wealth at the sacrifice; perfecting our praiseand sacrifice, may they bestow upon us unequalled riches.

आ तत्त इन्द्रायवः पनन्ताभि य ऊर्वं गोमन्तं तितृत्सान् । सकृत्स्वं ये पुरुपुत्रां महीं सहस्रधारां बृहतीं दुदुक्षन् ॥

ā tatta indrāyavaḥ panantābhi ya ūrvaṃ gomantaṃ titṛtsān | sakṛtsvaṃ ye puruputrāṃ mahīṃ sahasradhārāṃ bṛhatīṃ dudukṣan ||

Your men praised (you) then, Indra, (those) who wished to break into the vast (stall) full of cattle; whomilked the extensive once-genitive rating earth, mother of many children, the showerer of thousands (of blessings).

शचीव इन्द्रमवसे कृणुध्वमनानतं दमयन्तं पृतन्यून् । ऋभुक्षणं मघवानं सुवृक्तिं भर्ता यो वज्रं नर्यं पुरुक्षुः ॥

śacīva indramavase kṛṇudhvamanānataṃ damayantaṃ pṛtanyūn | ṛbhukṣaṇaṃ maghavānaṃ suvṛktiṃ bhartā yo vajraṃ naryaṃ purukṣuḥ ||

Celebrators of holy rites, select for your protection Indra the unsubdued, the tamer of hostile hosts;mighty, opulent, much glorified, who, loud-shouting, is the bearer of the thunderbolt, which is friendly to man.

यद्वावान पुरुतमं पुराषाऴा वृत्रहेन्द्रो नामान्यप्राः । अचेति प्रासहस्पतिस्तुविष्मान्यदीमुश्मसि कर्तवे करत्तत् ॥

yadvāvāna purutamaṃ purāṣāḻā vṛtrahendro nāmānyaprāḥ | aceti prāsahaspatistuviṣmānyadīmuśmasi kartave karattat ||

When Indra, the destroyer of cities, had slain the most mighty (Vṛtra), then he the Vṛtra-slayer filledthe waters; he was manifest (to all), the subduer of enemies, the lord of all, the most opulent; may he do thatwhich we desire to have done.
