ऋग्वेद 10.57 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

मा प्र गाम पथो वयं मा यज्ञादिन्द्र सोमिनः । मान्त स्थुर्नो अरातयः ॥

mā pra gāma patho vayaṃ mā yajñādindra sominaḥ | mānta sthurno arātayaḥ ||

Let us not depart, Indra, from the path; let us not (depart) from the sacrifice of the offerer of thelibation; let not our adversaries remain (in our plural ce).

यो यज्ञस्य प्रसाधनस्तन्तुर्देवेष्वाततः । तमाहुतं नशीमहि ॥

yo yajñasya prasādhanastanturdeveṣvātataḥ | tamāhutaṃ naśīmahi ||

May we obtain (the favour of) him to whom burnt offerings are presented, (Agni), who is the thread, theperfecter of sacrifice, drawn out (by the priests) to the gods.

मनो न्वा हुवामहे नाराशंसेन सोमेन । पितॄणां च मन्मभिः ॥

mano nvā huvāmahe nārāśaṃsena somena | pitṝṇāṃ ca manmabhiḥ ||

We call upon the spirit (of Subandhu) with the Soma appropriated to the progenitors, with the praisesepithet of the Soma. Yajus. 3.53 reads stomena: praise is of to kinds, that of gods and men, the latter isnārāśamsaḥ, whence the epithet narāśaṃsa means, suited to man; that is, to deified men or pitṛs].

आ त एतु मनः पुनः क्रत्वे दक्षाय जीवसे । ज्योक्च सूर्यं दृशे ॥

ā ta etu manaḥ punaḥ kratve dakṣāya jīvase | jyokca sūryaṃ dṛśe ||

May (your) spirit (Subandhu) come back again to perform pious acts; to exercise strength; to live; andlong to see the sun.

पुनर्नः पितरो मनो ददातु दैव्यो जनः । जीवं व्रातं सचेमहि ॥

punarnaḥ pitaro mano dadātu daivyo janaḥ | jīvaṃ vrātaṃ sacemahi ||

May our progenitors, may the host of the gods, restore (your) spirit; may we obtain (for you) theaggregate of the functions of life.

वयं सोम व्रते तव मनस्तनूषु बिभ्रतः । प्रजावन्तः सचेमहि ॥

vayaṃ soma vrate tava manastanūṣu bibhrataḥ | prajāvantaḥ sacemahi ||

Soma, fixing our minds, on your worship and its details, may we, blessed with progeny, obtain (theaggreagate of the functions of life)
