ऋग्वेद 10.38 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

अस्मिन्न इन्द्र पृत्सुतौ यशस्वति शिमीवति क्रन्दसि प्राव सातये । यत्र गोषाता धृषितेषु खादिषु विष्वक्पतन्ति दिद्यवो नृषाह्ये ॥

asminna indra pṛtsutau yaśasvati śimīvati krandasi prāva sātaye | yatra goṣātā dhṛṣiteṣu khādiṣu viṣvakpatanti didyavo nṛṣāhye ||

You shout, Indra, in this glorious and arduous conflict, and assist us to the acquisition (of spoil), in thisbattle where cows are won and men overpowered, wherein the weapons descend on every side upon the fierceand courageous combatants.

स नः क्षुमन्तं सदने व्यूर्णुहि गोअर्णसं रयिमिन्द्र श्रवाय्यम् । स्याम ते जयतः शक्र मेदिनो यथा वयमुश्मसि तद्वसो कृधि ॥

sa naḥ kṣumantaṃ sadane vyūrṇuhi goarṇasaṃ rayimindra śravāyyam | syāma te jayataḥ śakra medino yathā vayamuśmasi tadvaso kṛdhi ||

Do you, Indra, heap up in our dwelling famous riches, comprising food and herds of cattle; may we,Śakra, be vigorous (through the favour) of you, the victorious; grant us, Vasu, that which we desire.

यो नो दास आर्यो वा पुरुष्टुतादेव इन्द्र युधये चिकेतति । अस्माभिष्टे सुषहाः सन्तु शत्रवस्त्वया वयं तान्वनुयाम संगमे ॥

yo no dāsa āryo vā puruṣṭutādeva indra yudhaye ciketati | asmābhiṣṭe suṣahāḥ santu śatravastvayā vayaṃ tānvanuyāma saṃgame ||

Indra, the praised of many, may he who proposes to assail us, whether he be a dāsa, an ārya, or anenemy of the gods; through your aid may all (such) foes be easily overcome by us; through you may we destroythem in battle.

यो दभ्रेभिर्हव्यो यश्च भूरिभिर्यो अभीके वरिवोविन्नृषाह्ये । तं विखादे सस्निमद्य श्रुतं नरमर्वाञ्चमिन्द्रमवसे करामहे ॥

yo dabhrebhirhavyo yaśca bhūribhiryo abhīke varivovinnṛṣāhye | taṃ vikhāde sasnimadya śrutaṃ naramarvāñcamindramavase karāmahe ||

Let us bring before us today for ur protection that Indra, the pure, the renowned, the leader of rites,who in the main-destroying, all-devouring conflict, is the winner of wealth; who is to be invoked by few and many.

स्ववृजं हि त्वामहमिन्द्र शुश्रवानानुदं वृषभ रध्रचोदनम् । प्र मुञ्चस्व परि कुत्सादिहा गहि किमु त्वावान्मुष्कयोर्बद्ध आसते ॥

svavṛjaṃ hi tvāmahamindra śuśravānānudaṃ vṛṣabha radhracodanam | pra muñcasva pari kutsādihā gahi kimu tvāvānmuṣkayorbaddha āsate ||

Indra, showerer of benefits, I have heard of you, the self-mutilator, the giver of unexpected strength,encouragin the prosperous; set yourself free from Kutsa, and come here; how should such a one as you remainso bound?
