[rv-10-26] • 9 श्लोकाः

प्र ह्यच्छा मनीषा स्पार्हा यन्ति नियुतः । प्र दस्रा नियुद्रथः पूषा अविष्टु माहिनः ॥

pra hyacchā manīṣā spārhā yanti niyutaḥ | pra dasrā niyudrathaḥ pūṣā aviṣṭu māhinaḥ ||

Since our appointed and acceptable prayers proceed to him, may the mighty Pūṣan, of plural asingaspect, whose care is ever harnessed, protect us.

यस्य त्यन्महित्वं वाताप्यमयं जनः । विप्र आ वंसद्धीतिभिश्चिकेत सुष्टुतीनाम् ॥

yasya tyanmahitvaṃ vātāpyamayaṃ janaḥ | vipra ā vaṃsaddhītibhiściketa suṣṭutīnām ||

(May e) whose greatness (manifested as) the matured rain, this pious man celebrates with piousrites-- may he be cognizant of such excellent praises.

स वेद सुष्टुतीनामिन्दुर्न पूषा वृषा । अभि प्सुरः प्रुषायति व्रजं न आ प्रुषायति ॥

sa veda suṣṭutīnāmindurna pūṣā vṛṣā | abhi psuraḥ pruṣāyati vrajaṃ na ā pruṣāyati ||

He, Pūṣan, is cognizant of such excellent praises; like Soma he is the showerer (of benefits); thegraceful deity rains down upon us, he rains upon our cow-pastures.

मंसीमहि त्वा वयमस्माकं देव पूषन् । मतीनां च साधनं विप्राणां चाधवम् ॥

maṃsīmahi tvā vayamasmākaṃ deva pūṣan | matīnāṃ ca sādhanaṃ viprāṇāṃ cādhavam ||

We glorify you, divine Pūṣan, the accomplisher of our desires, who make the pious to quake.

प्रत्यर्धिर्यज्ञानामश्वहयो रथानाम् । ऋषिः स यो मनुर्हितो विप्रस्य यावयत्सखः ॥

pratyardhiryajñānāmaśvahayo rathānām | ṛṣiḥ sa yo manurhito viprasya yāvayatsakhaḥ ||

Details:

आधीषमाणायाः पतिः शुचायाश्च शुचस्य च । वासोवायोऽवीनामा वासांसि मर्मृजत् ॥

ādhīṣamāṇāyāḥ patiḥ śucāyāśca śucasya ca | vāsovāyo'vīnāmā vāsāṃsi marmṛjat ||

Lord both of the pure desirable (she-goat), and of the pure (he-goat); weave3r of the cloth (of thewool) of the sheep; he has cleansed the vestments.

इनो वाजानां पतिरिनः पुष्टीनां सखा । प्र श्मश्रु हर्यतो दूधोद्वि वृथा यो अदाभ्यः ॥

ino vājānāṃ patirinaḥ puṣṭīnāṃ sakhā | pra śmaśru haryato dūdhodvi vṛthā yo adābhyaḥ ||

The ruler, the lord of viands, the soverign, the friend of the contentment (of all); he who isunassailable, genitive ly shakes his beard (when drinking the Soma of the sacrificer), desiring (his favour).

आ ते रथस्य पूषन्नजा धुरं ववृत्युः । विश्वस्यार्थिनः सखा सनोजा अनपच्युतः ॥

ā te rathasya pūṣannajā dhuraṃ vavṛtyuḥ | viśvasyārthinaḥ sakhā sanojā anapacyutaḥ ||

THe goats, Pūṣan, bear the burden of your car, who are the friend of every suppliant, born long ago,never-failing (in your duty).

अस्माकमूर्जा रथं पूषा अविष्टु माहिनः । भुवद्वाजानां वृध इमं नः शृणवद्धवम् ॥

asmākamūrjā rathaṃ pūṣā aviṣṭu māhinaḥ | bhuvadvājānāṃ vṛdha imaṃ naḥ śṛṇavaddhavam ||

May the mighty Pūṣan protect our chariot by his might; may he be to us the augmenter of food; mayhe hear this our invocation.
