ऋग्वेद 10.162 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

ब्रह्मणाग्निः संविदानो रक्षोहा बाधतामितः । अमीवा यस्ते गर्भं दुर्णामा योनिमाशये ॥

brahmaṇāgniḥ saṃvidāno rakṣohā bādhatāmitaḥ | amīvā yaste garbhaṃ durṇāmā yonimāśaye ||

May Agni, the destroyer of the rākṣasas, consenting to our prayer, drive hence (the evil spirit) who(in the form of) sickness assails your embryo, who, as the disease durṇāman, assails your womb.

यस्ते गर्भममीवा दुर्णामा योनिमाशये । अग्निष्टं ब्रह्मणा सह निष्क्रव्यादमनीनशत् ॥

yaste garbhamamīvā durṇāmā yonimāśaye | agniṣṭaṃ brahmaṇā saha niṣkravyādamanīnaśat ||

May Agni, concurring in our prayer, destroy the cannibal who, as sickness, assails your embryo, who,as the disease durṇāman, assails your womb.

यस्ते हन्ति पतयन्तं निषत्स्नुं यः सरीसृपम् । जातं यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि ॥

yaste hanti patayantaṃ niṣatsnuṃ yaḥ sarīsṛpam | jātaṃ yaste jighāṃsati tamito nāśayāmasi ||

May we exterminate from hence (the evil spirit) who destroys the impregnating energy, the germ as itsettles, the moving embryo, who seeks to destroy (the babe) when born.

यस्त ऊरू विहरत्यन्तरा दम्पती शये । योनिं यो अन्तरारेऴ्हि तमितो नाशयामसि ॥

yasta ūrū viharatyantarā dampatī śaye | yoniṃ yo antarāreḻhi tamito nāśayāmasi ||

May we exterminate from hence (the evil spirit)l who separates your things, who lies betweenhusband and wife, who, entering your womb, devours (the seed).

यस्त्वा भ्राता पतिर्भूत्वा जारो भूत्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि ॥

yastvā bhrātā patirbhūtvā jāro bhūtvā nipadyate | prajāṃ yaste jighāṃsati tamito nāśayāmasi ||

May we exterminate from hence (the evil spirit), who in the form of brother, husband, or paramour,approaches you, and seeks to destroy your offspring.

यस्त्वा स्वप्नेन तमसा मोहयित्वा निपद्यते । प्रजां यस्ते जिघांसति तमितो नाशयामसि ॥

yastvā svapnena tamasā mohayitvā nipadyate | prajāṃ yaste jighāṃsati tamito nāśayāmasi ||

May we exterminate from hence (the evil spirit), who, having beguiled you by sleep or darkness,approaches you, and seeks to destroy your offspring.
