ऋग्वेद 10.158 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

सूर्यो नो दिवस्पातु वातो अन्तरिक्षात् । अग्निर्नः पार्थिवेभ्यः ॥

sūryo no divaspātu vāto antarikṣāt | agnirnaḥ pārthivebhyaḥ ||

May Sūrya protect us from (foes dwelling in) heaven, Vāyu from (those dwelling in) the firmament,and Agni from those upon earth.

जोषा सवितर्यस्य ते हरः शतं सवाँ अर्हति । पाहि नो दिद्युतः पतन्त्याः ॥

joṣā savitaryasya te haraḥ śataṃ savā~ arhati | pāhi no didyutaḥ patantyāḥ ||

Savitā, whose radiance merits a hundred acknowledgments, be propitiated (by our praises); protectus from the falling bolts (of our enemies).

चक्षुर्नो देवः सविता चक्षुर्न उत पर्वतः । चक्षुर्धाता दधातु नः ॥

cakṣurno devaḥ savitā cakṣurna uta parvataḥ | cakṣurdhātā dadhātu naḥ ||

May the divine Savitā grant us sight, may Parvata (grant) us sight; may Dhātā (grant) us sight.

चक्षुर्नो धेहि चक्षुषे चक्षुर्विख्यै तनूभ्यः । सं चेदं वि च पश्येम ॥

cakṣurno dhehi cakṣuṣe cakṣurvikhyai tanūbhyaḥ | saṃ cedaṃ vi ca paśyema ||

Give sight, Sūrya, to our eyes, (bestow) sight for the illumination of our bodies, so that we may lookupon and into this (world).

सुसंदृशं त्वा वयं प्रति पश्येम सूर्य । वि पश्येम नृचक्षसः ॥

susaṃdṛśaṃ tvā vayaṃ prati paśyema sūrya | vi paśyema nṛcakṣasaḥ ||

May we look upon you, Sūrya, the bright beholder (of all), may we look into the things which arevisible to mankind.
