ऋग्वेद 10.147 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

श्रत्ते दधामि प्रथमाय मन्यवेऽहन्यद्वृत्रं नर्यं विवेरपः । उभे यत्त्वा भवतो रोदसी अनु रेजते शुष्मात्पृथिवी चिदद्रिवः ॥

śratte dadhāmi prathamāya manyave'hanyadvṛtraṃ naryaṃ viverapaḥ | ubhe yattvā bhavato rodasī anu rejate śuṣmātpṛthivī cidadrivaḥ ||

I have faith, Indra, in your first wrath, whereby you did slay Vṛtra, and did undertake a work friendly toman; when both heaven and earth were inferior to you, the firmament trembled at your might, O wielder of thethunderbolt.

त्वं मायाभिरनवद्य मायिनं श्रवस्यता मनसा वृत्रमर्दयः । त्वामिन्नरो वृणते गविष्टिषु त्वां विश्वासु हव्यास्विष्टिषु ॥

tvaṃ māyābhiranavadya māyinaṃ śravasyatā manasā vṛtramardayaḥ | tvāminnaro vṛṇate gaviṣṭiṣu tvāṃ viśvāsu havyāsviṣṭiṣu ||

Irreproachable Indra, with mind intent on glory you have your deceptions slain the deceptive Vṛtra.The worshipper chooses you when he seeks for his (stolen) cattle, and in all sacrifices accompanied withinvocations.

ऐषु चाकन्धि पुरुहूत सूरिषु वृधासो ये मघवन्नानशुर्मघम् । अर्चन्ति तोके तनये परिष्टिषु मेधसाता वाजिनमह्रये धने ॥

aiṣu cākandhi puruhūta sūriṣu vṛdhāso ye maghavannānaśurmagham | arcanti toke tanaye pariṣṭiṣu medhasātā vājinamahraye dhane ||

Indra, the invoked of many, be gracious to these Suris, who thereby prospering attain, O Maghavan, toopulence; (who) adore the powerful one at the sacrifice for (the sake of obtaining) a son, a grandson, thefulfilment of their desires, and honourable wealth.

स इन्नु रायः सुभृतस्य चाकनन्मदं यो अस्य रंह्यं चिकेतति । त्वावृधो मघवन्दाश्वध्वरो मक्षू स वाजं भरते धना नृभिः ॥

sa innu rāyaḥ subhṛtasya cākananmadaṃ yo asya raṃhyaṃ ciketati | tvāvṛdho maghavandāśvadhvaro makṣū sa vājaṃ bharate dhanā nṛbhiḥ ||

He obtains well-procured riches, who studies to promote Indra's rapid exhilaration. Exalted by (yourfavour), O Maghavan, (the worshipper), celebrating the sacrifice, speedily obtains through the officiating priestsfood and wealth.

त्वं शर्धाय महिना गृणान उरु कृधि मघवञ्छग्धि रायः । त्वं नो मित्रो वरुणो न मायी पित्वो न दस्म दयसे विभक्ता ॥

tvaṃ śardhāya mahinā gṛṇāna uru kṛdhi maghavañchagdhi rāyaḥ | tvaṃ no mitro varuṇo na māyī pitvo na dasma dayase vibhaktā ||

Glorified by great (praise), Maghavan, spread forth your might, bestow riches (upon us); beautifulIndra who are wise like Mitra and Varuṇa the distributer (of riches), you give us food now.
