ऋग्वेद 10.145 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

इमां खनाम्योषधिं वीरुधं बलवत्तमाम् । यया सपत्नीं बाधते यया संविन्दते पतिम् ॥

imāṃ khanāmyoṣadhiṃ vīrudhaṃ balavattamām | yayā sapatnīṃ bādhate yayā saṃvindate patim ||

I dig up this most potent medicinal creeper, by which (a wife) destroys a rival wife, by which shesecures to herself her husband.

उत्तानपर्णे सुभगे देवजूते सहस्वति । सपत्नीं मे परा धम पतिं मे केवलं कुरु ॥

uttānaparṇe subhage devajūte sahasvati | sapatnīṃ me parā dhama patiṃ me kevalaṃ kuru ||

O (plural nt) with upturned leaves, auspicious, sent by the gods, powerful, remove my rival and make myhusband mine alone.

उत्तराहमुत्तर उत्तरेदुत्तराभ्यः । अथा सपत्नी या ममाधरा साधराभ्यः ॥

uttarāhamuttara uttareduttarābhyaḥ | athā sapatnī yā mamādharā sādharābhyaḥ ||

Excellent (plural nt), may I too be excellent, excellent among the excellent, and may she who is my rival bevile among the vile.

नह्यस्या नाम गृभ्णामि नो अस्मिन्रमते जने । परामेव परावतं सपत्नीं गमयामसि ॥

nahyasyā nāma gṛbhṇāmi no asminramate jane | parāmeva parāvataṃ sapatnīṃ gamayāmasi ||

I will not even utter her name, no (woman) takes plural asure in that person n; may we remove the otherrival wife to a distance.

अहमस्मि सहमानाथ त्वमसि सासहिः । उभे सहस्वती भूत्वी सपत्नीं मे सहावहै ॥

ahamasmi sahamānātha tvamasi sāsahiḥ | ubhe sahasvatī bhūtvī sapatnīṃ me sahāvahai ||

I am triumphing, you are triumphant; we two being powerful will triumph over my rival.

उप तेऽधां सहमानामभि त्वाधां सहीयसा । मामनु प्र ते मनो वत्सं गौरिव धावतु पथा वारिव धावतु ॥

upa te'dhāṃ sahamānāmabhi tvādhāṃ sahīyasā | māmanu pra te mano vatsaṃ gauriva dhāvatu pathā vāriva dhāvatu ||

I make you the triumphant (herb) my pillow, I support you with that more triumphant (pillow); let yourmind hasten to me as a cow to her calf, let it speed on its way like water. not fear assail you?
