[rv-10-103] • 13 श्लोकाः

आशुः शिशानो वृषभो न भीमो घनाघनः क्षोभणश्चर्षणीनाम् । संक्रन्दनोऽनिमिष एकवीरः शतं सेना अजयत्साकमिन्द्रः ॥

āśuḥ śiśāno vṛṣabho na bhīmo ghanāghanaḥ kṣobhaṇaścarṣaṇīnām | saṃkrandano'nimiṣa ekavīraḥ śataṃ senā ajayatsākamindraḥ ||

The fleet-going Indra, like a formidable bull sharpening (his horns), the slayer of foes, the exciter ofmen, loud-shouting, ever-vigilant, the chief of heroes overthrew at once a hundred hosts.

संक्रन्दनेनानिमिषेण जिष्णुना युत्कारेण दुश्च्यवनेन धृष्णुना । तदिन्द्रेण जयत तत्सहध्वं युधो नर इषुहस्तेन वृष्णा ॥

saṃkrandanenānimiṣeṇa jiṣṇunā yutkāreṇa duścyavanena dhṛṣṇunā | tadindreṇa jayata tatsahadhvaṃ yudho nara iṣuhastena vṛṣṇā ||

With Indra the loud-shouting, the vigilant, the vigtorious, the warlike, the unconquerable, the daring,the hurler of arrows, the showerer, (as your ally) conquer you warriors, you leaders, that (hostile host) andovercome it.

स इषुहस्तैः स निषङ्गिभिर्वशी संस्रष्टा स युध इन्द्रो गणेन । संसृष्टजित्सोमपा बाहुशर्ध्युग्रधन्वा प्रतिहिताभिरस्ता ॥

sa iṣuhastaiḥ sa niṣaṅgibhirvaśī saṃsraṣṭā sa yudha indro gaṇena | saṃsṛṣṭajitsomapā bāhuśardhyugradhanvā pratihitābhirastā ||

Indra, with the arrow-bearing (maruts), armed with swords, the subduer, the warrior, who encountershim, the drinker of the Soma, the strong- armed, having a powerful bow, who shoots with well-aimed arrows(conquer with his help).

बृहस्पते परि दीया रथेन रक्षोहामित्राँ अपबाधमानः । प्रभञ्जन्त्सेनाः प्रमृणो युधा जयन्नस्माकमेध्यविता रथानाम् ॥

bṛhaspate pari dīyā rathena rakṣohāmitrā~ apabādhamānaḥ | prabhañjantsenāḥ pramṛṇo yudhā jayannasmākamedhyavitā rathānām ||

Come with your chariot, Bṛhaspati, who are the slayer of Rākṣasas, discomfiting your enemies,

बलविज्ञायः स्थविरः प्रवीरः सहस्वान्वाजी सहमान उग्रः । अभिवीरो अभिसत्वा सहोजा जैत्रमिन्द्र रथमा तिष्ठ गोवित् ॥

balavijñāyaḥ sthaviraḥ pravīraḥ sahasvānvājī sahamāna ugraḥ | abhivīro abhisatvā sahojā jaitramindra rathamā tiṣṭha govit ||

Known by his strength mighty, heroic, overpowering, vigorous, enduring, fierce, attended by heroes,attended by mighty men, the offspring of strength, the possessor of water, do you, Indra, ascend your triumphantchariot.

गोत्रभिदं गोविदं वज्रबाहुं जयन्तमज्म प्रमृणन्तमोजसा । इमं सजाता अनु वीरयध्वमिन्द्रं सखायो अनु सं रभध्वम् ॥

gotrabhidaṃ govidaṃ vajrabāhuṃ jayantamajma pramṛṇantamojasā | imaṃ sajātā anu vīrayadhvamindraṃ sakhāyo anu saṃ rabhadhvam ||

Imitate in heroism, you kindred warriors, follow, friends, in prowess this Indra, who is the breaker ofmountains, the acquirer of water, armed with the thunderbolt, conquering the swift (foe), destroying (the enemy)by his might.

अभि गोत्राणि सहसा गाहमानोऽदयो वीरः शतमन्युरिन्द्रः । दुश्च्यवनः पृतनाषाऴयुध्योऽस्माकं सेना अवतु प्र युत्सु ॥

abhi gotrāṇi sahasā gāhamāno'dayo vīraḥ śatamanyurindraḥ | duścyavanaḥ pṛtanāṣāḻayudhyo'smākaṃ senā avatu pra yutsu ||

May Indra, bursting open the clouds with force; pitiless, heroic, with hundredfold anger, invincible, theoverthrower of armies, irresistible, protect our armies in battles.

इन्द्र आसां नेता बृहस्पतिर्दक्षिणा यज्ञः पुर एतु सोमः । देवसेनानामभिभञ्जतीनां जयन्तीनां मरुतो यन्त्वग्रम् ॥

indra āsāṃ netā bṛhaspatirdakṣiṇā yajñaḥ pura etu somaḥ | devasenānāmabhibhañjatīnāṃ jayantīnāṃ maruto yantvagram ||

May Indra be the leader of these (hosts), may Bṛhaspati, Dakṣiṇā, Yajña, and Soma go before, letthe Maruts march in the van of the destroying and victorious armies of the gods.

इन्द्रस्य वृष्णो वरुणस्य राज्ञ आदित्यानां मरुतां शर्ध उग्रम् । महामनसां भुवनच्यवानां घोषो देवानां जयतामुदस्थात् ॥

indrasya vṛṣṇo varuṇasya rājña ādityānāṃ marutāṃ śardha ugram | mahāmanasāṃ bhuvanacyavānāṃ ghoṣo devānāṃ jayatāmudasthāt ||

(May) the mighty force of the showerer Indra, of the royal Varuṇa, of the Ādityas and Maruts (beours). The shout of the magnanimous and victorious deities, the subverters of the worlds, has arisen.

उद्धर्षय मघवन्नायुधान्युत्सत्वनां मामकानां मनांसि । उद्वृत्रहन्वाजिनां वाजिनान्युद्रथानां जयतां यन्तु घोषाः ॥

uddharṣaya maghavannāyudhānyutsatvanāṃ māmakānāṃ manāṃsi | udvṛtrahanvājināṃ vājinānyudrathānāṃ jayatāṃ yantu ghoṣāḥ ||

Excite, Maghavan, my weapons, (excite) the spirits of my heroes; slayer of Vṛtra, let the speed of thehorses be accelerated, let the noises of the chariots be increased.

अस्माकमिन्द्रः समृतेषु ध्वजेष्वस्माकं या इषवस्ता जयन्तु । अस्माकं वीरा उत्तरे भवन्त्वस्माँ उ देवा अवता हवेषु ॥

asmākamindraḥ samṛteṣu dhvajeṣvasmākaṃ yā iṣavastā jayantu | asmākaṃ vīrā uttare bhavantvasmā~ u devā avatā haveṣu ||

When the banners are intermingled, may Indra be our (defender), may those arrows which are ours bevictorious may our warriors be triumphant; gods, protect us in battles.

अमीषां चित्तं प्रतिलोभयन्ती गृहाणाङ्गान्यप्वे परेहि । अभि प्रेहि निर्दह हृत्सु शोकैरन्धेनामित्रास्तमसा सचन्ताम् ॥

amīṣāṃ cittaṃ pratilobhayantī gṛhāṇāṅgānyapve parehi | abhi prehi nirdaha hṛtsu śokairandhenāmitrāstamasā sacantām ||

Bewildering the mind of our foes, Apva, seize their limbs and depart, proceed against them, burn intheir hearts with sorrow, let our enemies be covered with thick darkness.

प्रेता जयता नर इन्द्रो वः शर्म यच्छतु । उग्रा वः सन्तु बाहवोऽनाधृष्या यथासथ ॥

pretā jayatā nara indro vaḥ śarma yacchatu | ugrā vaḥ santu bāhavo'nādhṛṣyā yathāsatha ||

Advance, warriors, and conquer; may Indra grant you happiness, may your arms be strong, so that youmay be invincible.
