[rv-1-184] • 6 श्लोकाः

ता वामद्य तावपरं हुवेमोच्छन्त्यामुषसि वह्निरुक्थैः । नासत्या कुह चित्सन्तावर्यो दिवो नपाता सुदास्तराय ॥

tā vāmadya tāvaparaṃ huvemocchantyāmuṣasi vahnirukthaiḥ | nāsatyā kuha citsantāvaryo divo napātā sudāstarāya ||

We invoke you two, (Aśvins), today; the same two on any other day; when the morning dawns. Nāsatyas, grandsons of heaven, wherever you may be, the pious reciter (of the hymn) invokes you with praises on behalf of the liberal donor (of the offering).

अस्मे ऊ षु वृषणा मादयेथामुत्पणीँर्हतमूर्म्या मदन्ता । श्रुतं मे अच्छोक्तिभिर्मतीनामेष्टा नरा निचेतारा च कर्णैः ॥

asme ū ṣu vṛṣaṇā mādayethāmutpaṇī~rhatamūrmyā madantā | śrutaṃ me acchoktibhirmatīnāmeṣṭā narā nicetārā ca karṇaiḥ ||

Showerers (of benefits), rejoicing in (our) libations), make us happy, and destroy the niggard (withholder) of offerings; hear, leaders, with your ears, my praises addressed to you with pure words, for you are seekers (after praise), you are retentive (of laudation).

श्रिये पूषन्निषुकृतेव देवा नासत्या वहतुं सूर्यायाः । वच्यन्ते वां ककुहा अप्सु जाता युगा जूर्णेव वरुणस्य भूरेः ॥

śriye pūṣanniṣukṛteva devā nāsatyā vahatuṃ sūryāyāḥ | vacyante vāṃ kakuhā apsu jātā yugā jūrṇeva varuṇasya bhūreḥ ||

Divine Aśvins, in whom is no untruth, (darting) like arrows to acquire glory, and to carry off Sūrya, to you are addressed the prayers that are recited at holy rites, for (the completion of) the uninterrupted, sin-removing (sacrifice), as ancient ages (offered them).

अस्मे सा वां माध्वी रातिरस्तु स्तोमं हिनोतं मान्यस्य कारोः । अनु यद्वां श्रवस्या सुदानू सुवीर्याय चर्षणयो मदन्ति ॥

asme sā vāṃ mādhvī rātirastu stomaṃ hinotaṃ mānyasya kāroḥ | anu yadvāṃ śravasyā sudānū suvīryāya carṣaṇayo madanti ||

Receivers of the oblation, may your liberality be displayed towards us; be plural ased with the hymn of the venerable author, so that men may honour the instrumental tutor of the ceremony, as (they honour) you, liberal donors, for the sake of renown.

एष वां स्तोमो अश्विनावकारि मानेभिर्मघवाना सुवृक्ति । यातं वर्तिस्तनयाय त्मने चागस्त्ये नासत्या मदन्ता ॥

eṣa vāṃ stomo aśvināvakāri mānebhirmaghavānā suvṛkti | yātaṃ vartistanayāya tmane cāgastye nāsatyā madantā ||

Aśvins, possessors of wealth, this sin-removing hymn has been addressed to you, together with respectful (oblations); Nāsatyas be favourable to Agastya; come to his dwelling for (conferring on him) progeny, and for his own (good).

अतारिष्म तमसस्पारमस्य प्रति वां स्तोमो अश्विनावधायि । एह यातं पथिभिर्देवयानैर्विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

atāriṣma tamasaspāramasya prati vāṃ stomo aśvināvadhāyi | eha yātaṃ pathibhirdevayānairvidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum ||

(Through your aid), Aśvins, we cross over the limit of darkness; to you this (our hymn) has been addressed; come hither by the path traversed by thd gods, thatwe may obtain food, strength and long life.
