ऋग्वेद 1.177 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

आ चर्षणिप्रा वृषभो जनानां राजा कृष्टीनां पुरुहूत इन्द्रः । स्तुतः श्रवस्यन्नवसोप मद्रिग्युक्त्वा हरी वृषणा याह्यर्वाङ् ॥

ā carṣaṇiprā vṛṣabho janānāṃ rājā kṛṣṭīnāṃ puruhūta indraḥ | stutaḥ śravasyannavasopa madrigyuktvā harī vṛṣaṇā yāhyarvāṅ ||

May Indra, who is the cherisher of men, the benefactor of mankind,t he lord of men, the adored of many, (come to us), Indra, who are praised (by us), and are desirous of the oblation, harness your vigorous steeds, and come down to me for (my preservation).

ये ते वृषणो वृषभास इन्द्र ब्रह्मयुजो वृषरथासो अत्याः । ताँ आ तिष्ठ तेभिरा याह्यर्वाङ्हवामहे त्वा सुत इन्द्र सोमे ॥

ye te vṛṣaṇo vṛṣabhāsa indra brahmayujo vṛṣarathāso atyāḥ | tā~ ā tiṣṭha tebhirā yāhyarvāṅhavāmahe tvā suta indra some ||

Mount, Indra, your steeds, who are young and vigorous, tractable to prayer, and harnessed to a bounty-shedding car; come down with them to us. We invoke you, Indra, the libation being poured out.

आ तिष्ठ रथं वृषणं वृषा ते सुतः सोमः परिषिक्ता मधूनि । युक्त्वा वृषभ्यां वृषभ क्षितीनां हरिभ्यां याहि प्रवतोप मद्रिक् ॥

ā tiṣṭha rathaṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vṛṣā te sutaḥ somaḥ pariṣiktā madhūni | yuktvā vṛṣabhyāṃ vṛṣabha kṣitīnāṃ haribhyāṃ yāhi pravatopa madrik ||

Ascend your bounty-shedding car, for you the Soma, the showerer of benefits, is effused, the sweet libations are prepared. Bounty-shedding Indra, having harnessed them, come with your vigorous steeds for (the good of) mankind; come with your rapid (car) to my presence.

अयं यज्ञो देवया अयं मियेध इमा ब्रह्माण्ययमिन्द्र सोमः । स्तीर्णं बर्हिरा तु शक्र प्र याहि पिबा निषद्य वि मुचा हरी इह ॥

ayaṃ yajño devayā ayaṃ miyedha imā brahmāṇyayamindra somaḥ | stīrṇaṃ barhirā tu śakra pra yāhi pibā niṣadya vi mucā harī iha ||

This is the sacrifice offered to the gods; this is the offering of the victim; these are the prayers; this, Indra, is the Soma; the sacred grass is ready strewn; come, therefore, Indra, quickly, sit down, drink (the libation); here let loose your steeds.

ओ सुष्टुत इन्द्र याह्यर्वाङुप ब्रह्माणि मान्यस्य कारोः । विद्याम वस्तोरवसा गृणन्तो विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

o suṣṭuta indra yāhyarvāṅupa brahmāṇi mānyasya kāroḥ | vidyāma vastoravasā gṛṇanto vidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum ||

Glorified by us, Indra, come to (our) presence to accept the prayers of the venerable offerer (of the oblation); so that we may ever enjoy prosperity through your protection, and thence obtain food, strength and long life.
