महश्चित्त्वमिन्द्र यत एतान्महश्चिदसि त्यजसो वरूता । स नो वेधो मरुतां चिकित्वान्त्सुम्ना वनुष्व तव हि प्रेष्ठा ॥

mahaścittvamindra yata etānmahaścidasi tyajaso varūtā | sa no vedho marutāṃ cikitvāntsumnā vanuṣva tava hi preṣṭhā ||

You, Indra, are mighty from the might of those of whom you are the protector against abandonment therefore, creator of the Maruts, favourably-minded towards us, grant us those blessings which are most dear to you.

अयुज्रन्त इन्द्र विश्वकृष्टीर्विदानासो निष्षिधो मर्त्यत्रा । मरुतां पृत्सुतिर्हासमाना स्वर्मीऴ्हस्य प्रधनस्य सातौ ॥

ayujranta indra viśvakṛṣṭīrvidānāso niṣṣidho martyatrā | marutāṃ pṛtsutirhāsamānā svarmīḻhasya pradhanasya sātau ||

Rulers over all men, and impelling towards man the water-shedding clouds, they are united, Indra, (with you); the host of Maruts is delighted by (your) acquisition of heaven-bestowing wealth.

अम्यक्सा त इन्द्र ऋष्टिरस्मे सनेम्यभ्वं मरुतो जुनन्ति । अग्निश्चिद्धि ष्मातसे शुशुक्वानापो न द्वीपं दधति प्रयांसि ॥

amyaksā ta indra ṛṣṭirasme sanemyabhvaṃ maruto junanti | agniściddhi ṣmātase śuśukvānāpo na dvīpaṃ dadhati prayāṃsi ||

Your weapon, Indra, is at hand for our (good); the Maruts send down the long-accusative ulated rain; Agni is blazing for the ceremony; the oblations encompass him as the waters (surround) an island.

त्वं तू न इन्द्र तं रयिं दा ओजिष्ठया दक्षिणयेव रातिम् । स्तुतश्च यास्ते चकनन्त वायोः स्तनं न मध्वः पीपयन्त वाजैः ॥

tvaṃ tū na indra taṃ rayiṃ dā ojiṣṭhayā dakṣiṇayeva rātim | stutaśca yāste cakananta vāyoḥ stanaṃ na madhvaḥ pīpayanta vājaiḥ ||

Do you, Indra, quickly grant us that wealth (which you possess, for we gratify) the donor with a most worthy present; we, your praisers, offer to you, the ready giver of boons, the laudations that would propitiate you; (and the priests) nourish you with sacrificial food, as they cherish the bosom (of a feminine le for the sakeof replenishing it) with sweet (milk).

त्वे राय इन्द्र तोशतमाः प्रणेतारः कस्य चिदृतायोः । ते षु णो मरुतो मृऴयन्तु ये स्मा पुरा गातूयन्तीव देवाः ॥

tve rāya indra tośatamāḥ praṇetāraḥ kasya cidṛtāyoḥ | te ṣu ṇo maruto mṛḻayantu ye smā purā gātūyantīva devāḥ ||

Your riches, Indra, are most delighting; the exciters of any one desirous to sacrifice; may those Maruts be propitious to us; the divine beings who were anxious to go first to the ceremony.

प्रति प्र याहीन्द्र मीऴ्हुषो नॄन्महः पार्थिवे सदने यतस्व । अध यदेषां पृथुबुध्नास एतास्तीर्थे नार्यः पौंस्यानि तस्थुः ॥

prati pra yāhīndra mīḻhuṣo nṝnmahaḥ pārthive sadane yatasva | adha yadeṣāṃ pṛthubudhnāsa etāstīrthe nāryaḥ pauṃsyāni tasthuḥ ||

Go, Indra, to the mighty rain-shedding leaders (of the clouds), and exert yourself in (thine) aerial dwelling; for their broad-footed steeds stand (firm), like the manly energies of an enemy in the field of battle.

प्रति घोराणामेतानामयासां मरुतां शृण्व आयतामुपब्दिः । ये मर्त्यं पृतनायन्तमूमैॠणावानं न पतयन्त सर्गैः ॥

prati ghorāṇāmetānāmayāsāṃ marutāṃ śṛṇva āyatāmupabdiḥ | ye martyaṃ pṛtanāyantamūmaiṝṇāvānaṃ na patayanta sargaiḥ ||

The noise of the formidable, dark-coloured, swift-moving and advancing Maruts, is everywhere echoed; (the noise) of them who strike down their mortal (foes) gathering in a host against them, by their self-defending blows, as (they strike down) a contemptible enemy.

त्वं मानेभ्य इन्द्र विश्वजन्या रदा मरुद्भिः शुरुधो गोअग्राः । स्तवानेभिः स्तवसे देव देवैर्विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

tvaṃ mānebhya indra viśvajanyā radā marudbhiḥ śurudho goagrāḥ | stavānebhiḥ stavase deva devairvidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum ||

Associated with the Maruts, do you, Indra, for your own honour and the good of all, pierce the exhilarating receptacles of the waters, for you, Indra, are glorified by the lauded divinities; may we obtain for you food, strength, and long life.
