ऋग्वेद 1.138 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

प्रप्र पूष्णस्तुविजातस्य शस्यते महित्वमस्य तवसो न तन्दते स्तोत्रमस्य न तन्दते । अर्चामि सुम्नयन्नहमन्त्यूतिं मयोभुवम् । विश्वस्य यो मन आयुयुवे मखो देव आयुयुवे मखः ॥

prapra pūṣṇastuvijātasya śasyate mahitvamasya tavaso na tandate stotramasya na tandate | arcāmi sumnayannahamantyūtiṃ mayobhuvam | viśvasya yo mana āyuyuve makho deva āyuyuve makhaḥ ||

The greatness of the strength of the many-worshipped Pūṣan is universally lauded; no one detracts (from his praise); his praise displeases no one. Desirous of happiness, I adore him, whose protection is ever nigh; who is the source of felicity; who, when devoutly worshipped, blends with the thoughts of all (his worshippers); who, (thought) a deity, is united with the sacrifice.

प्र हि त्वा पूषन्नजिरं न यामनि स्तोमेभिः कृण्व ऋणवो यथा मृध उष्ट्रो न पीपरो मृधः । हुवे यत्त्वा मयोभुवं देवं सख्याय मर्त्यः । अस्माकमाङ्गूषान्द्युम्निनस्कृधि वाजेषु द्युम्निनस्कृधि ॥

pra hi tvā pūṣannajiraṃ na yāmani stomebhiḥ kṛṇva ṛṇavo yathā mṛdha uṣṭro na pīparo mṛdhaḥ | huve yattvā mayobhuvaṃ devaṃ sakhyāya martyaḥ | asmākamāṅgūṣāndyumninaskṛdhi vājeṣu dyumninaskṛdhi ||

I exalt you, Pūṣan, with praises, that you may hasten (to the sacrifice), like a rapid (courser) to the battle; that you may bear us across the combat, like a camel; therefore do I, a mortal, invoke you, the divine bestower of happiness, for your friendship; and do you render our invocation productive (of benefit); render them productive (of success) in battle.

यस्य ते पूषन्त्सख्ये विपन्यवः क्रत्वा चित्सन्तोऽवसा बुभुज्रिर इति क्रत्वा बुभुज्रिरे । तामनु त्वा नवीयसीं नियुतं राय ईमहे । अहेऴमान उरुशंस सरी भव वाजेवाजे सरी भव ॥

yasya te pūṣantsakhye vipanyavaḥ kratvā citsanto'vasā bubhujrira iti kratvā bubhujrire | tāmanu tvā navīyasīṃ niyutaṃ rāya īmahe | aheḻamāna uruśaṃsa sarī bhava vājevāje sarī bhava ||

Through your friendship, Pūṣan, they who are diligent in your praise and assiduous in your worship enjoy (abundance), through your protection; by (assiduous) worship they enjoy (abundance); as consequent upon your recent favour, we solicit infinite riches. Free from anger, and entitled to ample praise, be ever accessible to us; be our leader in every encounter.

अस्या ऊ षु ण उप सातये भुवोऽहेऴमानो ररिवाँ अजाश्व श्रवस्यतामजाश्व । ओ षु त्वा ववृतीमहि स्तोमेभिर्दस्म साधुभिः । नहि त्वा पूषन्नतिमन्य आघृणे न ते सख्यमपह्नुवे ॥

asyā ū ṣu ṇa upa sātaye bhuvo'heḻamāno rarivā~ ajāśva śravasyatāmajāśva | o ṣu tvā vavṛtīmahi stomebhirdasma sādhubhiḥ | nahi tvā pūṣannatimanya āghṛṇe na te sakhyamapahnuve ||

Free from anger, and liberal of gifts, be nigh to us, Ajāśva, for the acceptance of this our (offering); be nigh to those, Ajāśva, who solicit food; we have recourse to you, destroyer of enemies, with pious hymns. I never cease, Pūṣan, accepter of offerings, to think of you; I never disregard your friendship.
