ऋग्वेद 1.134 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

आ त्वा जुवो रारहाणा अभि प्रयो वायो वहन्त्विह पूर्वपीतये सोमस्य पूर्वपीतये । ऊर्ध्वा ते अनु सूनृता मनस्तिष्ठतु जानती । नियुत्वता रथेना याहि दावने वायो मखस्य दावने ॥

ā tvā juvo rārahāṇā abhi prayo vāyo vahantviha pūrvapītaye somasya pūrvapītaye | ūrdhvā te anu sūnṛtā manastiṣṭhatu jānatī | niyutvatā rathenā yāhi dāvane vāyo makhasya dāvane ||

Let your swift coursers, Vāyu, bring you quickly hither, that you may be the first to drink; the first (of the gods) to drink of the Soma. May our appraised, discriminating, and sincere (praise) be acceptable to your mind; come with your steed-yoked car for (the libation) to be presented to you; come, Vāyu, for granting (the objects of worship).

मन्दन्तु त्वा मन्दिनो वायविन्दवोऽस्मत्क्राणासः सुकृता अभिद्यवो गोभिः क्राणा अभिद्यवः । यद्ध क्राणा इरध्यै दक्षं सचन्त ऊतयः । सध्रीचीना नियुतो दावने धिय उप ब्रुवत ईं धियः ॥

mandantu tvā mandino vāyavindavo'smatkrāṇāsaḥ sukṛtā abhidyavo gobhiḥ krāṇā abhidyavaḥ | yaddha krāṇā iradhyai dakṣaṃ sacanta ūtayaḥ | sadhrīcīnā niyuto dāvane dhiya upa bruvata īṃ dhiyaḥ ||

May the exhilarating drops (of the libation) exhilarate you, Vāyu, being fitly prepared, doing their office, administered opportunely, rendered efficacious by (our) praises, and flowing (in due season); for which purpose, your docile and active steeds, the niyuts, attending (your presence, bring you) to the sacrificial hall to accept the offering; to the sacrifice in which the pious (priests) represent their desires.

वायुर्युङ्क्ते रोहिता वायुररुणा वायू रथे अजिरा धुरि वोऴ्हवे वहिष्ठा धुरि वोऴ्हवे । प्र बोधया पुरंधिं जार आ ससतीमिव । प्र चक्षय रोदसी वासयोषसः श्रवसे वासयोषसः ॥

vāyuryuṅkte rohitā vāyuraruṇā vāyū rathe ajirā dhuri voḻhave vahiṣṭhā dhuri voḻhave | pra bodhayā puraṃdhiṃ jāra ā sasatīmiva | pra cakṣaya rodasī vāsayoṣasaḥ śravase vāsayoṣasaḥ ||

Vāyu yokes to his car his two red horses; Vāyu (yokes) his purple steeds; Vāyu (yokes) his two unwearied (coursers) to his car to bear their burden; for most able are they to bear the burden. Arouse Vāyu the intelligent (sacrificer), as a gallant (awakens) his sleeping mistress; summon heaven and earth; light up the dawn; light up the dawn (to receive) your sacrificial food.

तुभ्यमुषासः शुचयः परावति भद्रा वस्त्रा तन्वते दंसु रश्मिषु चित्रा नव्येषु रश्मिषु । तुभ्यं धेनुः सबर्दुघा विश्वा वसूनि दोहते । अजनयो मरुतो वक्षणाभ्यो दिव आ वक्षणाभ्यः ॥

tubhyamuṣāsaḥ śucayaḥ parāvati bhadrā vastrā tanvate daṃsu raśmiṣu citrā navyeṣu raśmiṣu | tubhyaṃ dhenuḥ sabardughā viśvā vasūni dohate | ajanayo maruto vakṣaṇābhyo diva ā vakṣaṇābhyaḥ ||

For you, the brilliant dawns, (rising) from afar, spread abroad their auspicious raiment in inviting rays; in variegated and glorious rays; for these, the cow that yields ambrosia milks all kinds of treasure; you beget the Maruts, of the firmament, for (the purpose) of showering rain; (for the purpose of replenishing) the rivers.

तुभ्यं शुक्रासः शुचयस्तुरण्यवो मदेषूग्रा इषणन्त भुर्वण्यपामिषन्त भुर्वणि । त्वां त्सारी दसमानो भगमीट्टे तक्ववीये । त्वं विश्वस्माद्भुवनात्पासि धर्मणासुर्यात्पासि धर्मणा ॥

tubhyaṃ śukrāsaḥ śucayasturaṇyavo madeṣūgrā iṣaṇanta bhurvaṇyapāmiṣanta bhurvaṇi | tvāṃ tsārī dasamāno bhagamīṭṭe takvavīye | tvaṃ viśvasmādbhuvanātpāsi dharmaṇāsuryātpāsi dharmaṇā ||

For you, the bright, pure, quick-flowing (Soma), potent for exhilaration, are eager for the (fire of) oblation; are eager for the cloud (showering) waters. The timid and anxious (worshipper) praises you, who are auspicious, for (driving away) thieves; for you defend (us) from all beings, (as the reward) of our righteousness; you protect us from the fear of evil spirits, (as the reward) of our righteousness.

त्वं नो वायवेषामपूर्व्यः सोमानां प्रथमः पीतिमर्हसि सुतानां पीतिमर्हसि । उतो विहुत्मतीनां विशां ववर्जुषीणाम् । विश्वा इत्ते धेनवो दुह्र आशिरं घृतं दुह्रत आशिरम् ॥

tvaṃ no vāyaveṣāmapūrvyaḥ somānāṃ prathamaḥ pītimarhasi sutānāṃ pītimarhasi | uto vihutmatīnāṃ viśāṃ vavarjuṣīṇām | viśvā itte dhenavo duhra āśiraṃ ghṛtaṃ duhrata āśiram ||

You, Vāyu, who are preceded by none, are entitled to drink first of these our Soma libations; you are entitled to drink of the effused, moreover, (of all) oblations and sin-offerings of men; for you, their cattle yield milk; (for you) they yield butter.
