[rv-1-118] • 11 श्लोकाः

आ वां रथो अश्विना श्येनपत्वा सुमृऴीकः स्ववाँ यात्वर्वाङ् । यो मर्त्यस्य मनसो जवीयान्त्रिवन्धुरो वृषणा वातरंहाः ॥

ā vāṃ ratho aśvinā śyenapatvā sumṛḻīkaḥ svavā~ yātvarvāṅ | yo martyasya manaso javīyāntrivandhuro vṛṣaṇā vātaraṃhāḥ ||

May your elegant and rich car, swift as a hawk, come, Aśvins, to our presence, fo rit as quick as the mind of man, surmounted, showerers (of benefits) by three columns, and rapid as the wind.

त्रिवन्धुरेण त्रिवृता रथेन त्रिचक्रेण सुवृता यातमर्वाक् । पिन्वतं गा जिन्वतमर्वतो नो वर्धयतमश्विना वीरमस्मे ॥

trivandhureṇa trivṛtā rathena tricakreṇa suvṛtā yātamarvāk | pinvataṃ gā jinvatamarvato no vardhayatamaśvinā vīramasme ||

Come to us with your tri-columnar, triangular, three-wheeled, and well-constructed car; replenish our cows (with milk), give spirit to our horses, and augment, Aśvins, our posterity.

प्रवद्यामना सुवृता रथेन दस्राविमं शृणुतं श्लोकमद्रेः । किमङ्ग वां प्रत्यवर्तिं गमिष्ठाहुर्विप्रासो अश्विना पुराजाः ॥

pravadyāmanā suvṛtā rathena dasrāvimaṃ śṛṇutaṃ ślokamadreḥ | kimaṅga vāṃ pratyavartiṃ gamiṣṭhāhurviprāso aśvinā purājāḥ ||

Dasras (having come) with your quick-moving well-constructed car, hear this hymn, (recited by one) who reveres you; do not the ancient sages say that you are most prompt, Aśvins, (to avert) poverty from the worshipper?

आ वां श्येनासो अश्विना वहन्तु रथे युक्तास आशवः पतंगाः । ये अप्तुरो दिव्यासो न गृध्रा अभि प्रयो नासत्या वहन्ति ॥

ā vāṃ śyenāso aśvinā vahantu rathe yuktāsa āśavaḥ pataṃgāḥ | ye apturo divyāso na gṛdhrā abhi prayo nāsatyā vahanti ||

May your quick-moving, prancing steeds, rapid as hawks, yoked to your car, bear you, Aśvins, (hither), who, quick as (falling) water, like vultures flying through the air, convey you, Nāsatyas, to the sacrifice.

आ वां रथं युवतिस्तिष्ठदत्र जुष्ट्वी नरा दुहिता सूर्यस्य । परि वामश्वा वपुषः पतंगा वयो वहन्त्वरुषा अभीके ॥

ā vāṃ rathaṃ yuvatistiṣṭhadatra juṣṭvī narā duhitā sūryasya | pari vāmaśvā vapuṣaḥ pataṃgā vayo vahantvaruṣā abhīke ||

Leaders (of sacrifice), the youthful daughter of Sūrya ascended, delighted, this your car; may your strong-bodied prancing, fleet, and shining horses, bring you near uṣ

उद्वन्दनमैरतं दंसनाभिरुद्रेभं दस्रा वृषणा शचीभिः । निष्टौग्र्यं पारयथः समुद्रात्पुनश्च्यवानं चक्रथुर्युवानम् ॥

udvandanamairataṃ daṃsanābhirudrebhaṃ dasrā vṛṣaṇā śacībhiḥ | niṣṭaugryaṃ pārayathaḥ samudrātpunaścyavānaṃ cakrathuryuvānam ||

By your deeds, Dasras, you raised up Vandanā, and, showerers (of benefits), Rebha; you bore the son of Tugra over the sea, and made Cyavana young.

युवमत्रयेऽवनीताय तप्तमूर्जमोमानमश्विनावधत्तम् । युवं कण्वायापिरिप्ताय चक्षुः प्रत्यधत्तं सुष्टुतिं जुजुषाणा ॥

yuvamatraye'vanītāya taptamūrjamomānamaśvināvadhattam | yuvaṃ kaṇvāyāpiriptāya cakṣuḥ pratyadhattaṃ suṣṭutiṃ jujuṣāṇā ||

You (gave relief) to the imprisoned Atri, (quenching the) scorching heat, and fed him with grateful food; solicitous of worthy praise, you gave sight of Kaṇva, blinded (by darkness).

युवं धेनुं शयवे नाधितायापिन्वतमश्विना पूर्व्याय । अमुञ्चतं वर्तिकामंहसो निः प्रति जङ्घां विश्पलाया अधत्तम् ॥

yuvaṃ dhenuṃ śayave nādhitāyāpinvatamaśvinā pūrvyāya | amuñcataṃ vartikāmaṃhaso niḥ prati jaṅghāṃ viśpalāyā adhattam ||

You filled his cow with milk, Aśvins, for the ancient Śayu, when imploring (yoru aid); you liberated the quail from danger; you gave a leg to Viśpalā.

युवं श्वेतं पेदव इन्द्रजूतमहिहनमश्विनादत्तमश्वम् । जोहूत्रमर्यो अभिभूतिमुग्रं सहस्रसां वृषणं वीड्वङ्गम् ॥

yuvaṃ śvetaṃ pedava indrajūtamahihanamaśvinādattamaśvam | johūtramaryo abhibhūtimugraṃ sahasrasāṃ vṛṣaṇaṃ vīḍvaṅgam ||

You gave to Pedu, Aśvins, the white and foe-trampling steed which you had received from Indra, loud-neighing (in battle), defying enemies, high-spirited, the acquirer of a thousand tresures, vigorous, and firm in body.

ता वां नरा स्ववसे सुजाता हवामहे अश्विना नाधमानाः । आ न उप वसुमता रथेन गिरो जुषाणा सुविताय यातम् ॥

tā vāṃ narā svavase sujātā havāmahe aśvinā nādhamānāḥ | ā na upa vasumatā rathena giro juṣāṇā suvitāya yātam ||

Earnestly we call you, leaders (of the sacrifice), such (as you have been described), and who are well born, to our succour, soliciting, Aśvins, wealth; contented with our laudations, come to us with your wealthy car, to brign us felicity.

आ श्येनस्य जवसा नूतनेनास्मे यातं नासत्या सजोषाः । हवे हि वामश्विना रातहव्यः शश्वत्तमाया उषसो व्युष्टौ ॥

ā śyenasya javasā nūtanenāsme yātaṃ nāsatyā sajoṣāḥ | have hi vāmaśvinā rātahavyaḥ śaśvattamāyā uṣaso vyuṣṭau ||

Come to us, auspicious Nāsatyas, with the fresh velocity of a hawk; bearing an oblation, I invoke you, Aśvins, at the rising of the ever constant dawn.
