A महर्षि , who lived in the दण्डक forest during the 'forest-life' of श्री राम . (Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, Araṇyakāṇḍa, Canto IV) . When श्री राम visited शरभङ्ग 's आश्रम , इन्द्र too came there, but went away saying that he would meet the maharṣi after the great mission of राम was over. The maharṣi told राम that he was waiting to see him and did not accompany इन्द्र to देवलोक as he wanted to go there only after seeing राम . राम answered the महर्षि that he would take upon himself all the spiritual assets and good results of the actions of the महर्षि , and wanted him to point out a place for them ( राम and others) to live. शरभङ्ग directed them to the आश्रम of सुतीक्ष्ण , and after that ended his life by leaping into the fire and attained ब्रह्मलोक .
