शालिहोत्र
[salihotra] IAST: ŚĀLIHOTRA
A muni of ancient days. व्यास had once lived in his आश्रम . There was a tree near the आश्रम which had outlived time. A drink of the water in the pond here quenches hunger and thirst. The tree and the pond were created by the power of शालिहोत्र 's तपस् . The पाण्डवस् , during their life in exile in the forest, visited this place in the company of हिडिम्बी and quenched their hunger and thirst by drinking water from this pond. [mh-1-154-1 ] (Southern text) . शालिहोत्र was an adept in अश्वसस्त्र (science about horses). To bathe in the तीर्थ called शालिसूर्य created by the मुनि is to derive the same result as that of making a gift of a thousand cows. [mh-3-71-27 ] • [mh-3-83-107 ]
