Son of सुप्रतीप , a captain of the army of उदयन . (See under Udayana) .

The eldest of the five sons born to जमदग्नि by his wife रेणुका . The sons of जमदग्नि were, रुमण्वान् , सुषेण , वसु , विश्वावसु and परशुराम . It was रुमण्वान् that जमदग्नि ordered to kill रेणुका who was late in fetching water from the river. But रुमण्वान् did not obey his father. The angry hermit cursed रुमण्वान् .
