One of the seven sons of वसिष्ठ by ऊर्जा , the other six being गोत्र , ऊर्ध्वबाहु , सवन , अनघ , सुतपस् , and शुक्र . Holy souls, these seven were सप्तर्षिस् in the third मन्वन्तर . (Viṣṇu Purāṇa, Part 1, Chapter 10)
