A daughter called लक्ष्मी and two sons called धाता and विधाता were born to maharṣi भृगु of his wife ख्याति . धता and विधाता married आयति and नियति , daughters of मेरु . A son named प्राण was born to विधाता , and this प्राण became father of मृकण्डु and grandfather of मार्कण्डेय . (Viṣṇu Purāṇa, Part 1, Chapter 10)
